Hi Folks,
I'm new to the forum and joined as I have purchased a 2007 Daytona Grey Avant.
While purchasing the car from a garage I tried to contact the previous owner to get the low down on the car, any previous repairs problems etc. He didnt phone back straight away but I bought the car anyway after an HPI and good inspection. The previous owner eventually did call me back and during the conversation he confrimed that the car had a milltek and coilovers fitted by the owner before him. I had a good look and easily confirmed the Milltek via a plaque welded to the underside but is there a way of confriming which version it is? Also the coilovers look like FK, due to the yellow coils but i have yet to jack it up for a proper look. Are there any serial numbers that would give away the exact model of the kit?
this was obviously a nice surprose for me as i had no idea of what was installed, niether did the garage selling the car!
any info would be great.
Identifying a Milltek & Suspension
Re: Identifying a Milltek & Suspension
if you start the car and hold it at about 1600-1900 rpm and you get a lot of booming noise then likely to be non-resonating. if it's loud but not boomy then probably resonating.
As for valved vs non valved should be easy - just look at the tail pipe for the valves. if not sure what to look for just start the car and let it idle. press sport button and if the noise changes then its' valved.

Re: Identifying a Milltek & Suspension
As above, The S button will change the noise if valved, and trust me if its non res and non valved you'd know!
You'd need to take the wheel off to check the suspension, It'll more than likely have a make stamped or Sticker on.

Re: Identifying a Milltek & Suspension
doesnt the valved version have a big valve on the side of the rear muffler that you can see? (plus a tube feeding it?)
Re: Identifying a Milltek & Suspension
You'll need to get down on your knees and look under the rear bumper and from the side of the car.
Resonated, non-valved Milltek (note the additional can like arrangement around the centre pipes)

Non-Res Milltek (centre pipes are just plain pipes)
Also non-valved.

Resonated and Valved Milltek (actuators on the side of the back box to oval tip connection)

Re: Identifying a Milltek & Suspension
Folks, thanks for the info especially the photos, that confirms that it is a non valved, i will check again tomorrow to see if it is res or non res.
regards the suspension i will need to get the wheels off for a good inspection, going to do this in the next few weeks as the wheels need removed a proper clean up.
need to drop the exhaust too as the milltek is a black tail pipe version (black optics) and the coating is coming off one of the tips. bought some high temp satin finish paint to tidy them up.
cheers
