What a few days.

Post by neilc » Wed Jun 29, 2011 7:29 pm

Had a great few days with my RS starting with GTI International on Sunday. Really enjoyed the day after a break of a couple of years. Although very few B7's around I thought.

Than yesterday I did a full trackday at Snetterton 300 which was awesome and the car did really well against some much more serious track machinery including a bike engined Caterham which couldnt take me on the straights but admittedly was ever so slightly better in the corners. Last session was in the wet and what a surprise all the track day specials were easy meat for me where I pretty much lapped the field. Only issue I had was a bit of brake wobble from high speed stops . But then I guess around 80 stops from 130 mph down to 70 mph is some serious grief for the brakes.

And to top it all off had a resonated Milltek with valves fitted today . What a difference ! With the S button on the noise is immense ! Got to say all you guys were right about getting one. Was a shame I couldnt get it fitted ready for the trackday but even without it every one there said it sounded great going round the circuit with the resident bikers voting it best sounding car of the day.

And my week is about to get even better with a 3 day trip to Goodwood going on Friday and coming home on Sunday night. Cant wait to hear the Milltek on the M25. If any of you guys are thinking of going to Goodwood go for it. It really is Motor heaven with a great atmosphere.

Jonesy07, get yourself to the National RS4 Meet and then you can hear all makes and all stages of tune and then decide. :beerchug:

Where did you buy your res valves milltek? How much was it? I think it's a res valved that I want. I previously owned a mk4 and mk5 R32s and I had res on both of them.

Nice one Neil sounds like your enjoying your car. I dont recall seeing your car at GTI int, I saw 2 other B7s that was not on the RS246/R32OC or SRS stand. Was your car on any display stands?

I have not done Snetterton, sounds fantastic, The wobble you experienced is common with these cars "busy under breaking" was a term used. With a good set of coil overs this can be dialed out.

Shame im not going to Goodwood, got the Ace Cafe meet on the Sunday at 6pm, maybe you can pop along after?

Will you be tracking the car more? There is Automatrix on the 20th July at Castle combe beign run by SRS and a few of us here are heading over to Cadwell park on the 24th July. Now Cadwell is a great circuit for the RS4.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Hi all , My car wasnt on the stand sonny , ended up jammed up in the middle of the car park. Not sure will make cadwell in july but will be going to Audi meet in October and will try and get another couple of days at Snetterton during the summer as I only live 45 mins away from there and it really is a great track for an RS. As you say the brakes are a bit of a weak point but I found if I dabbed them rather than inflicting heavy stops they lasted 6 or 7 laps without any fade. Brilliant fun. And whatever people say about carbon build up and power loss etc etc it was awesome on the straights the only thing that was much quicker was a 500BHP 911 Turbo !

As for the Milltek got to Say really happy with Res and valves as it sounds great in normal mode , much more burbly than stock and when the valves are open its just immense ! Bought it from Roadrunner Motorsport for £1664.00 and dealt with a nice guy called John. Delivery was quick and very happy with their service.
