Unknown 'Tm' Button

Post by Gogs. » Thu May 26, 2011 4:09 pm

Hi folks, I've just posted up a quick hello in the new members section.

I have only been a RS4 owner for about a month now and I am still getting to know the car. I have the following small circular button fitted to the dash just below the steering wheel

I am guessing it may be for a tracker of some sort as I cant find any info in the owners manual or documents I got with the car. When pushed the car announces "no information available" or something similar. Any ideas?

Do you have TMC enabled in your DIS display? If you are using a old 2006 SAT NAV disc then chances are it will have a line crossed out, 2007 onwards and t is activated (Green TMC logo). Maybe there connected, I have never seen that button before.

Traffic master it is then.

I don't have sat nav in the car, its fitted with a single DIN concert CD player which I was surprised at as I haven't seen many RS4's without sat nav.

At first I thought it was something to do with this;

I have since worked out that the above is a radar deflector which has been fitted at some point which will be kept switched off after reading about them online.

I had that TM button on a car once, I pressed it and somehow it dialled a call centre that wanted to give me Navigation instructions over the phone. It didn't connect over my phone either.
I never pressed it again..

Mine had a single CD when I bought it, soon swapped it out to RNS-E though not a job to be taken lightly, if I'd had a crystal ball I'd have paid the extra for the 1st owner to buy the double size CD head unit!
