Misfire

Post by Guernsey70 » Sun May 01, 2011 1:23 pm

Turned the S button on in 2nd gear, gave it some juice and at 5.5 rpm she started to misfire. Only happens in 2nd gear the first time the S button is switched on and then it clears.

Any ideas what this could be or why it happens?

Cheers

unlikely to be related to the sport button - all it does is open exhaust flaps and change the throttle mapping for the accelerator pedal input.

Could be the over-sensitive traction control if you're belting into the gears too hard.
Try again with traction control off using the same driving style. As previously suggested this should not be related to sport button.

IIRC if it is misfiring the EML will flash.

Depends - it won't trip on one or two misfires. There needs to be a set amount over a given timeframe for it to trip the light.
