It knew.......

Post by StuBee » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:05 pm

Well i was taking the car to Audi today to get its list of problem looked at:-

1. Brakes fixed (Audi are upgrading them for free!! ceramics here i come :jump: )
2. Suspension looked at (yet another knocking sound!!)
3. Serviced.
4. mot'ed.
5. coilpack recall check.
6. black stuff on the wing mirror (triangle bit that the mirror attaches too) is pealing off!!

On the way there (about 5 mins away from the dealer!!) it got a number 7 to be fixed too! Engine warning light came on!! No warnings on the DIS just the yellow light, any idea what would cause that?!

At least it was already booked in

yup i was surprised when they suggested it! then again they had replaced front disks and pads 4 times and the rear ones once in less than year! Will post an update on the triangle thing when i see what they say. Mines started with what looked like cracking in the paint along the bottom, its gradually just got worse with the rubbish weather and is now coming off so u can see the white stuff underneath.

I spoke to a guy last year who had this back in 2007. Constant brake problems with his (then) new RS4. I think it even got sent to Germany at one point. Couldn't solve the issue and so he got a free upgrade to ceramics.

Its hard to believe that they will upgrade your discs to ceramics, for your sake I hope they do. That would be a result, but don't get your heart set on it just in case...

Yup thats what they said, and the bloke that took the keys off me said thats what it had on the job sheet. Hope they do it! It was what they came up with as the answer after having the car for two and a half weeks and putting a good few miles on it testing. If its not ceramics i'll be wondering what else took them a month and a bit to get ahold off!

They still have the car. I got called with an update about lunch time. They said the ceramics were on :jump_clap: , it had been serviced and MOT'ed but they were still looking at the engine warning light. They said it was some vacuum thing and wanted the go-ahead to investigate?? I said its got a warranty so i'd be expecting them to pay for it anyway so i didn't care!

On the down side apparently the triangle bit of the mirror doesn't come separately! so I'll see how much a new mirror might cost when i get the car back. Fingers crossed tomorrow!

Excellent result on the ceramics.

OT but, does anyone know if the ceramics fit other models?

result of the century!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Audi UK must have stumped up for goodwill as there's no way a dealer would let that slip through

Now i feel like my wheels really need refurbed!!

Well the job sheet managed to get onto two pages, almost 3!

breakdown was:-

Carried out AVS, filters, oil, pollen filter, sump plug, engine oil - £134.34

Check and report on knocking noise from suspension - checked and greased steering and suspention points - free (lets see if the knocking comes back)

Free mot - free

Castrol audi variable servicing oil - £99.29

replace all front brake calipers, discs and pads - free :jump_clap:

check eml light - found trouble codes relating to electro hydraulic engine mounting and p2005 intake manifold flap - cleared fault codes and fault light erased - if warning light returns vehicle will have to be rebooked for investigation - 2/3 days at least - free - Anyone got any idea what that code might mean?!?! :?

Carry out recall/campain number 28E9 - free

rest were all parts, cleaner, filter, plug, washer, filter element, all in including VAT for the service (which seems to have been an oil change!) £329
