30 zones, in the main, are where people (like you) walk .... try living after being hit at 57mph !

We have down here plenty of areas that due to the council wanting to get their cut off the motorist, have had the speed limit slashed to 30 when they are safe at 50-60.............................. SPEED does not kill .............. Inappropriate use of speed does, there is a big difference
950 nm torque!

Ohh running bridgestones because they are the best ;)

Agree about local authorities cutting limits unneccesarily, but 57 in a 30 is inexcusable. Try living with yourself once you've knocked down and killed somebody's child at that speed. (I haven't, I'm just saying...)

Letting your car sit at idle or driving like a pussy whilst its cold does more harm than good.
He was doing you a favour by giving it a good thrash - after all, thats what its for !

+1. I very rarely exceed the limit in built up areas and certainly nowhere near 57 in a 30.

Yeah the kit is good. I like it alot... I paid installation £400 and £11 per month sub. including remote immobilisation. Would be cheaper if i didnt go down the remote immobilisation route. It is more of a fleet tracker i suppose but remote immobilisation is good for security. I immobilize it when i know it will be parked for some time or i wont be around.

I'd understand if they needed to check for knocking etc. But they checked it all 2 weeks ago and said rear shock needs replacing and booked it in for the work. I dont know but journey was only 4.9miles. I felt 15 harsh accelerations were bit too much considering they'd CHECKED the car already 2 weeks ago and knew what needed doing...
I dont know maybe im being harsh?
What's the name of the tracker??

Agree idle isn't great, sure it warms the engine but not the transmission or drivetrain.
As for thrashing it when cold - I don't often but feel it appropriate. What a load of <beep> rubbish.
Pretty much all engine wear happens when cold and with cold oil it won't flow so you've got metal on metal contact. The best way to warm a car is to treat it like you've got a brand new car and running it in. Only takes 10 minutes so what's the big deal.
I've personally seen warranty refused due to this behaviour on a £15k engine failure on a new car and the decision was upheld in court.

Nothing wrong with thrashing but everything has to be up to temp.

Doesn't matter if you think the speed is right or wrong, the cold hard fact is sombody was driving the car at license losing speeds like they stole it. The way I see it is that it MY car and I want it driven exactly how I want it to be. Not what some technician feels like during a joyride.

really? I drive my car "normally" until it warms up above the 60 degree / 7000rpm safety zone. I never thrash from cold.

I let idle till the revs drop then use low revs and try not to go over 3k untill its warmed up. Am I being over cautious?

Under 3k revs is ok but to be honest under 4k should be fine on a light throttle.
The other thing to be wary off is heavy throttle application and labouring the engine in to high a gear.
You can't really be over cautious when warming up but as long as the car is moving normally it'll be fine.

Does the RS4 have a limiter that cuts in early when cold?

MRC remap is 5000rmp irrc (If you chosen to have it).
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
