Possible Solution to Bolster Wear

So I admit I'm a bit OCD about how my car looks and recently my quarterly regime of nourishing my seats with Gliptone wasn't hiding the cracks or shininess (?) of the drivers seat in particular.

I went overseas last week and used the time to book my car into Furniture Clinic. They are a UK franchise but their head office is about 15 miles from me in Burnopfield. So I left my car with them for a week to work their magic.

This is not just cleaning, they strip the leather lacquer and pigmentation off the seats which is what you usually see as cracking, filler in the worse of the cracks if more than colour deep, re-colour the leather and PVC lacquer seal the seat again. I wanted to see how they got on with the driver seat and steering wheel before committing to do the passenger seat as well but when I picked up the car this afternoon the results are stunning. The seats are back to matt black, no sheen, a couple of creases but nothing unexpected of a 78k mile car. They are guaranteed not to deform, crack or fade for another 60k miles.

Best bit of all, they are a fraction of the cost of buying new seats or worse still, buying seat base and back covers.

Bad news for those with alcantara, they guys there reckoned there was no way to get it back to new condition and best tpo recover / replace if need be. I'll be booking my car in again to have the passenger seat done in a few weeks.

They won't just do the side bolster, it is the whole seat that is refurbished to make it even. Best to call them for a quote but driver seat was just over £200 inc. VAT (got a deal on the steering wheel price). I left my car for a week but in reality is is a 2 full days to do the seat.

This is good to know,as Ive looked at two cars up to now and both had worn bolsters.Did this company previously trade on the Team Valley?

Not sure of their origins although I think they do have a unit in Gateshead, best check their website for their locations.

Alcantara can be tidied with a sharp Stanley blade. This can be done at least twice in its life before needing to consider replacement. It won't look quite as new, but will look very very good.

Definitely not as it keeps the oils your hands produce which cause sheen on leather away from the wheel.

Hmmm, should have seen that one coming! Since forgetting to take them to The Ring, they seem to be 'over the top' for driving a Nissan during the winter...........
