My car thinks its going backwards!

Post by B7RSX » Fri Nov 12, 2010 11:24 pm

Hi lads.

Once the ignition is switched on the parking sensors come on automatically... and reverse lights stay on... while im travelling forward!! Lol.

Taken the bulbs out for the time being as people were freaking out behind me.
Whats this all about? Reverse switch needs replacing or something more sinister?

I agree about the reverse switch, it will be in the gear box and is readily accessible on most vehicles. I would expect a bill for 1hr labour + parts. It maybe worth checking that the connector is plugged in securely although I must admit if it was not It would more likely lead to no reverse lights than constant reverse lights, but again purely dependant on how audi choose to do their vehicles.

Switch or connector on the gearbox. They are 'designed' to collect water. The garage told me they re-routed my cable when it was replaced to avoid the same problem again.

I had this too at some point. Take out and re-seat the fuses for the lights and parking sensors.
