RS4 v's RS5

Anyone read the new EVO? Group test of RS5 , M3, IS-F and C63. Oh dear - Audi will not be happy.

Im sorry but I always take what these guys have to say with a pinch of salt, and always suspect them of hidden motives when reviewing cars the same goes for top gear but it does not stop me from enjoying both shows.

A bit like the tabloids, good for entertainment but you can't believe all of it

It's not just Evo that are saying this about the RS5; Car Mag say much the same. I put a lot of faith in Evo's reviews, I think they are the best guys out there doing what they do and true drivers - you get a real sense that they love their cars.

Doesn't it make you feel good when you read glowing references to the RS4!

It's as though Audi have misplaced the recipe somewhere; they just don't seem to have it in them to bring out another RS4 to match the B7.

I think theyve done half a job with everything and trying to sell it in on the rs4s reputation.Its a full blown price with half an attempt on the styling and dynamics im afraid at this level customers arent fooled.

Maybe they set the benchmark too high with the B7 RS4 and R8 and are struggling to match / better? I suspect a lot of people like me initialy are expecting the RS5 to be a fair margin better than the RS4 because it is 3 years on and improvements in chassis and tecnology but it just isn't there?

Even the TT-RS is not held in high regard; great engine, stonking power but dynamically inert and poor steering response heralds back to the great point and squirt RS's like the B5 RS4 and C5 RS6.

Yes i think it a very good point that its fair to expect some improvements 3 years on,but to find it doesnt even match the b7 RS4 is a bit of a let down,I just cant see the ttrs being a hit at all,its in a market all on its own really especially with the price tag,i rated my point and fire b5 but it was good dynamics of the b7 that got me out of it,poor dynamics in the new RS4 whenever it comes would keep me away for sure,very nice to know your b7 is 4 years old but better than new models!

I think Audi have really dropped the ball with the RS5. I have had 6plus Audi's the last being an B7 RS4. That was FAB!
I quite fancied the RS5, but was disappointed with the styling, not nearly aggressive enough, and was wildly expensive on a finance compared to the RS4.
So I went out an got a 997C4S, a lot cheaper per month than the RS5.
Now, I have always read, (moving back to the subject of this post that no one believes the reviews) that All Audis have wooden steering and lack feedback. I never believed this, as I was an audi man.
However....
After having the 911 for a few weeks, and having a spirited drive with a scooby. The steering of the 911 is alive in your fingers dancing to the smallest input, WOW it's fab!
So i'm sorry, Audis are a bit wooden.
Maybe we should believe the press?

IMHO, that should be a great car.

That is the car they should have focussed on making (i.e. bringing down the unit cost) rather than trying to recycle the RS4 experience in a £70K RS5 package.

Most reviewers like track biased cars because they can hang the tail out on bends and have some fun. This is great on a track but very anti-social on public roads. My personal preferance is a car that stays planted even if the steering is a bit wooden. A good road car will never make a good track car and visa versa.

You know what, I think our RS4's are going to become much in demand, they are such a fantastic car, the "complete" package, as has been mentioned many times on this forum, what the hell do you replace it with ????
