rs4 exhausts

Post by ginger » Tue Oct 05, 2010 11:13 am

Had problem with car the other day, did not seem to be running right or going as well as it did.
Noticed to that it was not as loud in sports mode as it was, which led me to check exhaust flaps, where i noticed only one was opening when sports button pressed,
On closer inspection found it to be seized so out with long screw driver and pliers +wd 40 after 20 mins every thing free and flap working properly when pressing sport button. car now performing as it should.
Just wondered if any one had any idea about what i could put on it to stop it happening again,
looked in car history to find back boxes have been replaced some 2yrs ago is this a common problem.

yes common problem, don't think it really affects performance much.

mine had one stuck, tried to get it replaced on extended warranty but not covered (cats are)

so i did the obligatory disconnection of the vacuum pipes on the exhaust valves (do a search on here).

now get the V8 rumble all of the time

If you car is still in manufacturers 3 year warranty and it happens again you can get back box assembly replaced. I did.

A non-res non-valved Milltek should do the job! Failing that, at least do the simple valve flap mod so they're open all the time! :)
