Been having serious thoughts of changing to the 997 series 2 911 carerra S PDK.
Haven't driven a 911 yet, extremely impressed with spec/ finish and the whole porsche experience.
At some point will change to porsche, something I need to get out of my system.
Can anyone share their experience between both cars >:)

I have owned a 2004 911 (996) C4S and more recently a 2006 911 (997) C2S. Both were Tip but unfortunately not the PDK.
I currently have a 2006 RS4 Avant. So hopefully I am qualified to answer your question.
Lets discount the 996 straight away - not that impressive at all and poor finish inside. Much rather have an RS4 against this.
Regards the 997 v's the RS4, Depends on what you want from a car, driving and performance the Porsche wins hands down (barely in the same league no matter what the performance figures say...), the porsche has much more grunt in all areas, much more responsive and from 80mph onwards they are poles apart with the Porsche cotinuing to deliver neck snapping power right upto to where I have bottled out on public roads.... Handling wise I would also say that the Porsche has it by some margin, and I wouldnt go near another C4S, the C2S is brilliant and there is more feel to it than the C4S. I drove the C2S through last winter and never got stuck in the snow...
Whilst the Porsche is reasonably practical and can be driven as an every day car, its not nearly as practible and easy to live with (if you have a family or want to carry things like bikes...) as the RS4, which is largely the reason that I have an RS4 and not a 911.....
That being said, I too will in the near future be trading up to a PDK 997 - probably in 12 months time when the prices are sub £50k hopefully.
Both seem to cost around the same to run... The 997 had slightly better fuel consumption and I believe the new Generation PDK has much better consumption. I also believe that the PDK gearbox is awesome and much better than the previous Tiptronic.
Hope that has helped.

I had a roll on early on in my B7 ownership days against a C2S on a dark night....from 50-165 it was neck and neck.
I believe the Gen 2 PDK cars are quite a bit quicker.

I recently bought a Range Rover Sport.
Unbelievable the difference in Customer Service at our local Stratstone's compared to Audi.
I couldn't believe it when they offered to come round the house and pick up the car and redeliver it for some warranty work that I flagged up not long after taking delivery.
Its a good point about customer service because it makes a big difference to the ownership experience.

I owned a 2007 RS4 saloon and recently sold my manual 2009 manual generation 2 997 C4s. The 911 is better in every way apart from room. The engine is stronger, its delivery better, brakes have more feel, it doesnt understeer to the same degree, the steering feels sharper and you have the benefit of adjustable dampers, PASM. It can do cross country blast far more effectively and is also a GT cruiser. It returns better MPG and I saw 30 mpg in certain conditions, 22mg being easily acheivable. The RS4 is a wonderfully car with an engine note to die for but the gen 2 carreras are in a different leaugue and the PDK cars just increase the gap to its competitors. I love the RS4 but my C4S was just brilliant at doing everything bar children, it can be done as we did but it ultimatley became a chore which is why I sold it 3 weeks ago. They are quite frankly two different cars and I wouldnt expect the RS4 to need to compete against the 911 as it is a saloon.
