62k - what should I look out for....

Post by klauster » Sat Sep 04, 2010 12:46 pm

Knowing little or nothing about the mechanics of engines, I am going to ask something stupid and hope I don't get flamed :)

As there are some very well imformed and mechanically minded folks on here, other than clutch, what other large expense items can I expect now the miles are creeping up? Just had a new alternator belt and tensioner fitted last week for £400!

I can only really think of the DRC if it happens to fail after 75k miles. Then just swap it out for some KWv3 or PSS9's.

clutch is probably the big one
but imo you should be able to get well over 100k out of them, obviously depending on driving habits
another may be the ties rod end, control arms/bushings
brakes, rotors, but that is pretty standard

wheel bearings and 1/2 axles should be good for well over 100k

other than those can't really think of any, some routine stuff should be done if it hasn't already been:
tranny/diff fluid
fuel filter
spark plugs
maybe flush the brakes and power steering
coolant, check the hoses

cars still pretty new ... Sometimes its age combined with miles which cause issues...my old one was only 3yrs old & had 75k on and was perfect in everyway except for the emissions light issue,
