guess you haven't heard about the rear main seals? 996 TT correct?

you bought a vert in England and have owned it for 4 months?

Obviously the RS wasn't for you but come on.. is it that bad? My father inlaw is heavily involved with Porsche and has driven pretty much everything to ever come out of stuttgart but still has respect for my RS.

Horses for courses and all that, enjoy the 996.

I'm sorry; did you actually have any issues with your RS4 associated with carbon build up? Or did you just run with the hyperbole?

Genuinely I hope you enjoy your Porsche but you may as well be comparing a Kia Picanto to a Veyron because an RS4 and a 911 Turbo are for different purposes

Oh, and how is the improved fuel economy? I bet there is a wadge of £20's in your wallet that you have saved already between filling that up to the RS4. :roll:

Work colleague of mine has a 996 TT and his average over the last 3k miles is 23.4 including a run out to France which is 1mpg more then I get.

Another good reason not to buy a Porsche
If you think a 7 year old supercar with a complicated engine squashed into the wrong end of a car is going to be more reliable then a relatively simple RS4 then can I have some of that stuff too?
Goodbye and keep an eye on that oil level and judging by this 996TT which caused an injury on the 'ring, coolant loss too

3000 miles = 1 liter oil consumption, better than the RS4?

Enjoy your car, just make sure its had all 5 recals carried out.

Probably not the most tactful post, but still i can see the natural progression to a 911 turbo

PRO's of turbo-

-Much faster
-Better looking (subjective as all Porsche's look the same, but RS4 looks like a 2.0tdi saloon with big wheels)
-Better handling
-Better built
-More reliable
-Cheaper to Service (every 2 years)
-Same insurance as RS4
-Better MPG
-No Carbon
-Actually makes 420ps
-More Special
-Cheaper official warranty

CON's

-RS4 interior better
-More Space

In honesty i'm suprised more people don't look at the turbo, good ones are 30-35k and they dont depreciate as much as an RS4 either. And no worry of the engine eating itself to bits every day you use it. All IMHO just from reading alot of the stories on here

coming from a 996 c4s to the RS4 i really dont see how you can compare the 2.

chalk and cheese IMO.

try taking your rubbish to the skip in the porker......

911 turbo is a genuine supercar.

wont be cheap to run, and the interior is primitive by comparison, but geez they are fast, and handle unbeleivably well.

I considered a 996TT at the same time as purchasing the B7 and the B7 won hands down because of lifestyle issues.

If you're a petrolhead, a Porsche will always be a lure, but if you want to go snowboarding in the Alps and kite surfing and scuba diving or camping or mountain-biking you're going to look a bit of a tit when you rock up with some Thule bars on your Porker and your gear falling out the passenger window because you haven't been able to get it all in.

Should have got a GT3 tho.

You are right in your HO and your misguided; Turbo's don't depreciate as much as RS4's? Maths not your forte' then? A 996 TT which retails at £100+K two years ago can be had for £40, so more than 50% depreciation in 2 years. And you are talking about used Turbo's for £35K from 2003-2005, so a 5-7 year old car for the same price as a 3 year old car. And you are comparing a car that has already lost the bulk of its depreciation against one that is mid phase. Logical

Nice car for sure but nasty inside with really cheap plastics and not a patch on the quality of an RS4. Talking about torque , the RS4 counters that argument with a really strong top end which is something the Turbo doesnt have + they are designed for totally different reasons. But to say its a piece of s*** is just silly. So maybe you are better off with a Porsche. :?

Better quality? Way more potholes to look out for on a 996t my mate has one,£900 clutch master cylinder etc etc £3k plus for a sevice,rust under the sill gaurd the porsche are trying to wriiggle out of under warranty etc etc
Depreciation good? £90+k new and he paid late 20s for a low miler x50 on a 52 plate?
Its rapid almost litre superbike perfomance but isnt and never will be on my shopping list as theres more than 2 people in my family
