Guildford Audi were preparedto take an order after I mentioned the discussion you guys had with Quattro GMBH.
They too wanted a 1k deposit though, so at the time I walked.

P!ssed me off a bit as I missed the RS4 allocation last time around due to a dealer not taking my deposit, but I don't see the point in handing over 1k for them to sit on for a couple of years on the off-chance the car might arrive, and I might prefer it to my current RS4.

Sounds like I need to visit some other dealers who are a little more customer oriented (if such a thing exists...)

Hi John

You might want to try the guys at Listers Audi (Spencer Grey) in Stratford. I have my name down with them for the RS4 and no money committed...yet.

good luck!

I agreed to put down the 1K because -
a)The interest on the money over 18 months is less than £60

b)It shows willing on behalf of the customer and the dealer accepting the money means he has to make an effort to keep me close to the top of the tree

c)dealer cannot come to me in a years time and say "don,t remember you coming in" or "lost that bit of paper, will have to reorder it again now, sorry but you are now number 242 in the list"

d) prevents the wife from spending it

e) prevents me from spending it

All fair points KC, especially the last two , but I couldn't cover the deposit at that time anyway.

I'm gearing pu to go back in, but if I can achieve the same by not having to fork out then I will

Gareth, I'll give those guys a call, see what they have to say. Thanks for the tip.

Cheers,

I agree with jr, had my name down since 2002, but no deposit needed till car is speced, same as last time. If I remember, that was about 3 months before delivery. After 3.5 years, I still have a smile on my face every time I climb in the RS. I have enquired at 2 dealers now about eh new RS4 and neither one knows anything about it. The garages in questions are Listers at Worcester and Coventry.

I've not ordered anything through Listers in Stratford thus far because of the terrible sales service that I've had in the past with (mainly) various salesmen not returning calls and one didn't even get back to me with a price of my current Audi for 2 weeks although I told him I wanted to order it within a week. Veg Vardy took £50k from me on 2 cars within 2 weeks last May because of Listers lack of communication. I could go on but I won't.

However I recently met Spencer who is the sales manager their who does seem keener than the others that I've spoke to in the past. I've used the service dept there for years and always get great service

Where have you guys placed orders, mine is with Aston Green in Slough, but I am happy to cancel it with them and try somewhere else if I can be confident of being at the front (or very near the front) of the queue
Current: B7 RS4 Avant in Sprint
and 3.00 TDi Allroad (AMD Chipped to 280BHP but don't tell my wife!)
Previously:
2 x B5 RS4's in various states of tune from standard (no.93 out of the factory) to 480 BHP and 1 x early B7 RS4

Phoned up dealer to get name down on the waiting list for the next RS4.
He reckons they will build one, after the RS3 is released around the end of 2005.
His opinion is we are looking end 2006
At least he had the decency not to relieve me of a deposit!

Oh dear another uninformed dealer
RS3 has been shelved and RS4 goes into production 2005
Mind you he is in the highlands

You need to have a read through this forum, and also the RS Drivers Challenge posts in the Meets section. That'll tell you everything.
