DRC question
RE: Re: RE: DRC question
Come on guys - you have 5 years extended warranty
I started the thread Sims quotes, and got (what was probably) the first reply from JH giving the extended deal. That, to me, was a fair outcome...
What more do you want?

RE: Re: RE: DRC question
It is indeed a fair outcome. I for one, am very relieved they have provided the enhanced warranty. I am also very grateful to the folks on here that were involved in bringing this up with Audi.
Are you not allowed to vent your frustrations here now though?

Of course - it's a free forum!
I totally understand your frustration, which (whilst made better by the extended warranty) is still what we would all feel when our car is off the road
Sims on the other hand seems to be starting another crusade - one that has already been brought to a fair conclusion

RE: Re: RE: DRC question
I feel there will be a few others feeling the frustration come the spring. 5 year warranty should just about be done for '06 cars. Then there will be some crusading
I've not been on here in ages, too busy with house renovations and new job stuff. If by crusade you are meaning Sims suggestion of a proper engineered solution then, I'm sorry, I have to agree with his thinking. I must say though that the likelyhood of it actually happening is virtually zero. Mark my words, there will be others asking for the same come the spring after the 5 years expires.

RE: Re: RE: DRC question
Im sat in the middle opinionwise, the extended warranty is i think a fair solution but to still not have cured it since what 03 on rs6s? Iwas told my fronts may not be leaking enough yet but on the basis they knock over speed bumps they may be replaced,i can live with it and may leave it some time in the hope they are changed for a completely cured unit!
Re: RE: DRC question
I didn't but what you have said is inaccurate information for the purposes of your argument. If WD have picked up the tab more fool them or you for believing them; even moreso when you know there is a 5 year extended warranty of the parts. I would be somewghgat concerned that WD don't know about this, what does that say about their understanding of the mechanical complexities of our cars enough to provide cover on it?Sims wrote:P_G - call WD and they will tell you that, as they have told me & others on this forum who have faithfully passed on the information.P_G wrote:.. And as for Sims comment how have Warranty Direct had 50% of their RS4's claims based on DRC when it is covered for 5 years or 70,000 miles? I would be surprised if 50% of the RS4's they cover are either 5 years old (not possible yet) or have over 70k miles on them?
Stoking the fire?
It seems to me WD have picked up the DRC tab, rather than pass it on to Audi.
I am not stoking any fire, it was burning well before I came and will be well after most of us have left this forum. It is an engineering issue, do not make it a personal one yet again, please.
And yet again I haven't made it personal, you did by diverting the topic of discussion which it appears others can easily see as well to suit your anti Audi argument.
Face it, Audi have provided a solution, one you don't like. If you buy any other brand of any other product and don't like it you don't buy it or use it again. The are other cars out there so if you don't like what Audi sell for whatever reason, don't buy one and if you have one, sell it.
And stoking by definition is fuelling or feeding, in this case the fire; so yes it may have been already in the public domain but my comment still stands that you are taking pretty much every opportunity to stir it up.

2 years extension, mileage limited if we are to be accurate.Dom81 wrote:Come on guys - you have 5 years extended warranty
You did well to take the initiative (& naturally you took ownership of the issue), although someone else would have otherwise. I agree it seemed like a fair deal at the time. But tell me, did you expect at the time that the DRC problem would be 100% sorted well before we got to the end of the 5 years.Dom81 wrote: I started the thread and got (what was probably) the first reply from JH giving the extended deal. For the sake of accuracy again, this is not "starting another crusade"..
I have mentioned this issue on a number of occasions (as one of only 3 areas of concern for me). Countless others have mentioned this, and will carry on doing so. As we get to the end of the 2 year extension, these voices will get louder if there is not a lasting solution to the problem. For all we know, there may be one already.
So let's not try to divert attention from the issue by wrongly focusing on people.

All we want for the RS cars is 100% reliable DRC, and I mention Kaizen again.

A brand specific forum can easily become a love-fest. That is a weakness, not a strength. I have said countless times how much I like the RS4 package, but equally I recognise there are 3 major issues with the car. I will not mention the other 2 on this thread. And yes I do have other cars to help me see things in better context. You do need to remind yourself of the Audi ethos VdT, for supporting Audi for the sake of supporting is doing a disservice to all.P_G wrote: Face it, Audi have provided a solution, one you don't like. I did not start this thread, but like you & others I contributed to it. Would your attitude have been different if your car had been off the road a few times?

In summary though, together we should be pooling resources & fending for Audi customers ( & that's not anti Audi

RE: Re: RE: DRC question
Well my RS4 goes into have the front shocks replaced under the extended DRC warranty in a couple of weeks time because they were found to be weeping.
But I've done 44k miles including some fully laden driving and over some cobbled French roads, so as long as Audi live up to covering the costs I've replacement I'm not bothered in any way. I've owned other cars where I've had to pay myself to replace the shock absorbers at much lower mileages.
My only concern is that some Audi dealers seem to be seeing this as a "goodwill" issue, but the letter I have from JH makes no mention of goodwill - and I'll fight that through the courts if I have to.

I'm sure you will not need to fight it at all.PetrolDave wrote:Well my RS4 goes into have the front shocks replaced under the extended DRC warranty in a couple of weeks time because they were found to be weeping.

I feel a little left out of this drc issue as I have not suffered any failure, If I get 5yrs plus out of a set of shocks I will not complain too much. Has anyone seen the running costs of a veyron where tyres are replaced every 3,000 miles and rims every 2nd tyre change very deep pockets are needed. The only issue I have with my car are the discs which I will resolve hopefully by changing to a different manufacturer. Is it grit that rips the seals causing them to leak? does anyone have any ideas on this problem.
