Changing clutch without flywheel?

Post by RS_Y4Z » Wed Jun 16, 2010 8:16 pm

Guys my mates done his pressure plate in but his clutch is not slipping, car has only 18K bump start it in gear and it drives fine, no slip no issues. Is it ok to just change clutch and release bearing and not touch flywheel?

if it drives fine what makes you think the clutch is shot?
if it's not slipping?
bump start? maybe it's the starter or flywheel teeth?

if the flywheel is not warped by heat/scored by rivets it can be reused...

It wont go into gear when started or driving. And it takes 60men to get it out of gear!!

Sound like your servo has gone, prob due to a split hydro pipe. Will it only go in gear if the engine is switched off?
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

my thoughts also
it is a hydraulic issue, not the clutch per se
perhaps the hose, perhaps the slave cylinder...
check those out first

any loss of fluid?

TBH it sounds like the symptoms I had when my clutch went. (due to the weak hose).

There is a TPi (Tech Product info) on this and I had a new clutch pipe fitted - could be between slave and master cylinder.

Is a split hydro pipe covered under warranty.

if the car has a valid warranty it should be covered...

the clutch is another matter, they may argue 'wear & tear'
