Launching

Hey All

Have any of you mastered the launching of the Rs4?

I did a drag race a while back, my first with the Rs and managed to get the launch right without burning the clutch, rev were near 3500/4000 and then just let the clutch out but did noty pop it, and the car launches like a bullet but my times were not that great, ok i am 1500metres above sea level so the car loses 17% power which is quite a lot.
My best time was a 14.3 in 400 metres.

Usually anything less than 4k revs and I find the car bogs down and then goes, 4.5k was my optimum with ESP/TC stage II off. Last time I was doing 1/4 miles the car was doing mid 12s at near sea level so you are losing quite a bit being that much further up.

I don't really launch
I hold 1500-2000
let the clutch out quickly and apply throttle agressively, using wheel spin/traction to modulate
thing takes off like a bullet, traction, etc. on

I've run numerous 0-120 in ~16 sec which is pretty much spec for the car...(I've seen 15.9 to 16.1 and 17.1 for 124, 200 km/h)

@ P G Yeah thx for the advice, i did a drag race yesterday and managed to get a 13.9 anotehr Rs4 managed a 13.7 so i guess it is all about the launch, i was revving at 4000 and 5000. Wow 12seconds is pretty quick, i was told by some1 at the drag race who now owns a TT RS, flip what a machine, that his Rs4 he use to own when he took it to the coast it was a different animal, thats the reason why he sold it, is theory is if you live at the highveld (which is where i stay) you need a turboed car. But i love the Rs4, freakin awesome machine.

Well at least now i have a better idea, car seems to like the 4000 and 5000 rev range for a launch, soon i will upgarde the exhaust system and get a chip, have you guys modded your Rs4's as yet?
