What to look for? - Newbie RS4 viewing next week!

Post by Pennoir » Wed May 12, 2010 5:25 pm

Hi all,

Been dithering about my next car for a few months and have finally settled on an RS4 Avant. Have set myself a target to get it and celebrate my 25th year boys trip to Le Mans on the 8th June.

Do you seasoned owners out there have any tips on what to look out for - I am viewing one next week its an 07 plate with 56k on the clock in Grey metalic with black leather interior. Any thoughts on what I should be paying for this? I have been told between 25-28k depending on condition?

Any tips much appreciated. :D

The price range seems more than good value :)

Do you have the full spec of the car?

Is it under manufacturer's warranty? An Audi extended warranty costs £1655, but may not be worth it for at 60k miles (i'm not sure so stand to be corrected on the exact figure), I believe the level of benefits/coverage goes down.

Obvious issues of course are DRC - check that the dampers are not leaking, although Audi guarantee them 5 years/75k miles.

Sorting out scuffed wheels will set you back about £400

Check the seat bolsters - tend to wear, but may help you in your price discussions

Drive the car, but even better take it down to a dealership for a check-up. They may also be able to tell you about any major bodywork done on the car. Audi Camberley is excellent.

Hope you fulfil your dream :)

Is the car advertised online so we can have a look-see?

Thats a bargain,it would be cheap if it was a saloon never mind an avant,i would be a little carefull if it is in that price range as it trades in the upper of your estimated price range, one at trade or less usually has a reason...............Check brakes, wouldnt worry about DRC its warrantied for 5 years, and your usual close inspection of a high performance car,if at all unsure walk away or get it fully inspected by someone in the know

On the cars 6th birthday the audi warranty reverts to NAMED component

Up to its 6th birthday the warranty available is ALL component, this is the same warranty (AFAIK) that exists in Yr 3.

The level of cover does not change with mileage. The only mileage stipulation is the car must be under 100k at time of renewal
