Anyone looking to sell their RS4 Cab?
Anyone looking to sell their RS4 Cab?
Hi All,
It's been a while since my last post on here when I owned my last RS6 Avant. However I have fond memories of you as a fine bunch and I know if you can help, you will.
I am on the look out for an RS4 Cab, preferably in black with black recaros (def not buckets for I have 2 kids etc...) 06/07 plate, RS wheel and all the usual trimings with under 30K on the clock. The ones at the dealers seem overpriced (not suprising given the weather we've had) and yet I know those of you thinking of selling are probably being quoted a trade in price at circa £3K+ less than they then advertise you car for sale.
Annoyingly they get to enjoy a healthy margin by simply giving the car a wash (if needed) and a so called checkover and I have been down this road too many times paying a premium for no reason to get into the car and then selling below the market value to get out of it!
If you are thinking of selling, please PM me, I will be buying a car in the next 4 weeks and hope to do so without the dealers being the profiteers. So if you are thinking of selling let's try to help each other get a better deal and not the dealers!
Cheers!

Firstly, Good choice, having been there with a RS4 Cab, this is the only car I've comtemplated buying again - infact I nearly did buy a forum members car a few weeks back, only to be beaten to it by a previous viewer.
Anyway black/black seems to be the hardest combo to buy at sensible money at the moment, they are out there you just need to keep a look out in the regular places - pistonheads and autotrader but as you've said extra premiums are being added due to the sunshine we've recently had.
There's a daytona cab with extended warranty, miltek, ceramics and low miles currently on PH that I was thinking of buying but I have gone the 997 c2s route. If I didnt buy the Porka I would have brought the Daytona Car as its low miles and still under warranty, which the earlier cars wont be now. Try and buy a slightly later car with the non egg yolk indicators in the lights, makes the car look lots better.
(BTW I do not know the owner of the Daytona car and have not spoken to him)
How did you/are you getting on with your 997?

Hey Max,
Can't see the pics of your cab, don't know if that is settings at my end or not?
Thanks for the response, as there aren't many cab owners out there and I hear what you say about keeping a keen eye on PH and AutoT. There are a few black on black cars but too pricey for my liking and not in the spec I would need i.e. without bucket seats.
I should update my profile as the C2S went a while ago (after 18 months) and I have been enjoying an A5 3.0Tdi Q Sport as the everyday driver for the last 2 years. I've been buying historic racing cars instead to feed the need and thought I had left fast road cars behind, but the RS4 cab just seems to be hitting the right spot however much I try to deny it!
As for the C2S I really can't say anything bad about it. OK, having said that, the worst part is that the paint seemed quite soft for the nose of the car didn't last 5 minutes with all of the stonechips etc... and the lack of true touring (luggage, golf clubs, larger boxes etc) space got a little irritating. All I would say to anyone thinking of getting one is get the sports seats as a minimum as the standard ones I found very lacking... forget the phone module (waste of time), PASM is a must for the best of both worlds (standard on C2S)... everything else on the options list was fabulous (although avoid all of the interior "trim" upgrades as they are a complete waste of time unless you really want to personalise your car). Yes, you shred rear tyres in no time but the low servicing costs and everyday pure fun factor made it an everyday driver that you always got a smile from. Oh, and lastly, the key... very annoyingly I was always opening the bonnet of the car from my pocket without knowing it... but this is a well known problem.
I saw the Daytona cab in the ads and kind of dismissed it as it's not what I really want (the seats are a big issue), but the spec list is impressive with the ceramics and it looks to be in top nick... when did the indicators in the front lights change to clear from yellow on the RS4?
Have you bought a C2S? What spec is it?

I saw that one and its pretty much the spec... but too pricey and a long way to travel to merely look at it. Are there any additional items that anyone might suggest looking at beyond the usual RS4 checklists (DRC, brakes, etc...) that are specific to the cab?

The c2s has pretty much everything bar PSE which I may have retrofitted later (but I understand it is big money) - Its in for a pre-purchase inspection this week and all going well I should be in it at the end of the week. If not, like you I'll be looking for another RS4 Cab if I can find one cheap enough!
I understand what you say about the seats, as I had to go for the Recaros rather than the buckets in my car as well, due to my little ones and needed realistic access to the back. I do agree though prices have accelerated recently for Cabs, whilst saloon prices have come down - how long this lasts for would be interesting. The indicator lights seemed to change for late 56 plate cars but you may find the odd earlier car with clear lights. All 07's should be on clear lights. As long as you get a car with warranty, I dont think you should have a problem, but try a couple before you buy so you know what your getting, its going to be as pin sharp as your c2s but the noise WILL make up for it!
pics dont work in the post but see here for a couple
