derestricted

Post by rsubc » Sun Apr 25, 2010 3:14 pm

This might be a silly one,

I was told my car my car was derestricted when I purchased it from the dealer

I am heading to Germay in a few months and hope to strech the legs on it.

1. How would I tell if this is the case.
2. If its not the case how can it be done, ie Vag-Com/Dealer?

Thanks

Richard

if you see > 7000 rpm in 6th I'd say you're derestricted
I think the limited stops at ~6600 or so

iirc the dealers will do it for German cars

for the rest of us we need aftermarket software

Mine was fully deristricted & remapped but i never hit the absolute top speed.

Highest recorded was a genuine (through timing beams) 172mph & i was just shy of the rev limiter in 5th gear so had the whole of 6th still available.
