Anti corrosion measures

Post by Surfjunkie197 » Mon Apr 12, 2010 10:12 pm

Hi All,

Loving my RS4 and looking for some advice. I live on the coast and want to protect the car, engine, exhaust, and any other suspect bits (I cant polish) etc from corrosion. On my motorbike I have been using Scottoiler anti corrosion products to protect the bike from road salt and salt in air etc and it really helps but they don't recommend this for cars. Do any of you have any tried and tested products I can use and advice on where the car should be treated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

mmm tricky tbh The cars have a 12 year anti corrosion warranty and are largely galvanised or aluminium so a good start.
The only product I'd use I think would be Waxoyl - works well for the TVR folks protecting their chassis. On top of that a regular and thorough wash routine will probably work well to keep salt corrosion at bay?

Thanks for that. I have used Waxoyl today. My Mrs had a mini cooper and door catches (not hinges) handles, wipers and bits of chrome etc all started to bubble and corrode on a car not 3 years old so a little paranoid as been a long wait to get my hands on an RS4. Went for the full wash, polish etc today - first car for a while I really liked cleaning :)
