Where best for service - surrey/south area

Post by rs4_avant_7 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:29 pm

Not been on here for a while had a nasty accident back in January on holiday, and have not been able to drive. Which has been frustrating to say the least, forza just doesn’t cut it. However I am now hobbling along.

Been starting the car every few weeks, to just keep it ticking over, and I have to say the battery is pretty impressive, it went for 4 weeks without being started and fired first time.

Drove it for the first time on good Friday, I took the wife’s Scooby out first to make sure I could drive, just in case I had any moments, however all is well, and after a very noisy slow journey to the petrol station, letting it warm up, brakes sort themselves out etc, I have to say this car still impresses like no other I have owned or driven., when I got the chance to open it up a bit.

Now it is about to come up to 3 years old, and my only experience of the local dealer has not been great, can anyone recommend a good dealer in the surrey/south area. I want to get the oil changed, as I think it needs it even though it’s not due, and get it checked over prior to the expiry of the warranty and one minor warranty item.

I am also considering buying the Audi extended warranty, I know its daylight robbery, but it seems the best option for at least year 4, but perhaps not year 5. Has anyone had any negative experiences with the Audi warranty? Seems to me like they won’t be able to argue the toss on hourly rates with their own dealer, unlike a lot of the other firms.

I just then need to pop back to a rolling road, to see how it’s performing after our last visit in November. I think the power flap is stuck again so I will get them to check that as well, that will be the third time, but I am not in position to do it myself at the moment, the crutches get in the way :-)

Audi warranty, although very expensive, is by far and away the best warranty IMO and offers complete peace of mind

Camberley Audi - no question

Many here use them, and as you're local it's a no-brainer. Most have to drive a lot further!

Even though I've had a moan on here about the extended warranty (mainly cost) it does seam to be a no-quibble warranty, at least for the things they say they cover. They even coughed up of the replacement DRC that was £2k for 2 shocks and a valve!

I did have a centre arm rest that was broken and the dealer said 'that's ok, is covered under warranty' to then only check his words when he realised it was in extended warranty period so trim etc not covered. I've asked for a policy document with the terms and conditions but yet not forthcoming

Cheers Dom, I did call them twice about 2 weeks apart, but they never rang back, maybe I need to give them the benefit of the doubt, will they mind me provding the oil ? I bought a load off opie before xmas, happy to save it for when I am capable of doing an oil change myself as I am switching to every 5k.

my main worry is major mechanicals, although it would be nice to have the sat nav, audio, cd player, and trim etc covered, which i know most after market warranties exclude, however I am prepared to compromise on those as the most important thing is the driving of it.

AFAIK the extended warranty is the same as the 3rd year warranty...I may be wrong

it does cover ICE though, as on my old RS 6 I had the 6 CD changer covered under warranty and it was 5 years old

I've got the T&C's (soft copy) for the warranty if anyone wants me to post it up

Well I have just booked with camberley, I spoke to Rob last time, he failed to call back, but hey we all have bad days. They seemed helpful on the phone, happy to use my oil, and flexible with dates, which is what I need at the moment. I will let you know how it goes and if they get a thumbs up. cheers to everyone for comments.

Again, Camberley - Its really the only (and best) option if you are in the South East and still in warranty.
Give Rob a call on (01276) 606500 he is a top man and has recovered my faith in the brand after my awful experience with Guildford. Never looked back.
