RS4 or TTRS
I have been thinking of changing my car. I am currently in a 2008 impreza STI with the prodrive performance pack. I was was very happy with it until we swapped my wife's BMW 330i for a new allroad 3.0TDI. Now I want a nice interior as well.
4wd is essential and being able to service up in the highalnds is essential. Getting my subaru to Perth is a pain in the...
Do I go for a 3 year old RS4 in black with low miles or get a nearly new TTRS for just a few grand more.
I only do about 5-6K miles a year because we use the allroad for all the family stuff. My wife doesn't want another saloon style car and is keen on the TTRS.
I have a friend who has an RS4 and I love it but I am not sure about getting an older car. Has anyone driven a TTRS? I have almost zero chance of test driving one up here.
Cheers,
Chris

RS4....im not bias honest lol
If youre not going to get another "saloon style car" then maybe try the Avant, or if this is ruled out then try the TTRS.

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
Re: RE: RS4 or TTRS
The TTRS is quite a hoot, and you already have the Allroad.
Go and see Tony Mellor at Perth Audi, he has sold many RS4's and he will no doubt sort out a RS4/TTRS test drive for you. The RS4 will have a flatter depreciation curve

RE: RS4 or TTRS
Mixed reviews on the TTRS from what i hear - people seem to be preferring the TTS for less money. In my mind i would go for the RS4 - you (hopefully) wouldnt take as much of a hit on the depreciation. There are a few about at the moment so you should be able to get exactly what you want. I wouldnt worry about it being an older car, get one from a dealer to get your years warranty. Also most dealers are fairly experienced with the RS4 - the TTRS, i would worry who would be working on it, that is if anything went wrong.
But then i havent driven a TTRS so im always going to be bias. Dont think you should buy one without driving it 1st just to make sure it suits your needs. Get onto your dealer to see what they can do.
Just my opinion

RE: RS4 or TTRS
3 yr old low mile RS4 saloon surely is much cheaper than a nearly new TTRS ?
I go for the real RS, the '4

RE: RS4 or TTRS
TTRS is not a "real" RS any way....
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
RE: RS4 or TTRS
i've both,rs4 is fast ( if cold, with cleaned valves.... vpower, etc ), but ttrs engine it's a beast, rs4 can not compete with this not "real" RS
they are different cars, rs4 is a good sport car if you are driving with your family , ttsr is better for a track day

RE: RS4 or TTRS
hmmm. not so sure about that.
each to their own though..
do you get a vase on the dash of the tt like you do in the beetle?

Re: RE: RS4 or TTRS
Appreciate you have both cars but independent testing would suggest it's a little more of an equal match on track and quite one sided in a straight line ?AntoRS4 wrote:i've both,rs4 is fast ( if cold, with cleaned valves.... vpower, etc ), but ttrs engine it's a beast, rs4 can not compete with this not "real" RS

forgot to say , ttrs is modded ( just ecu )mark758 wrote:Appreciate you have both cars but independent testing would suggest it's a little more of an equal match on track and quite one sided in a straight line ?AntoRS4 wrote:i've both,rs4 is fast ( if cold, with cleaned valves.... vpower, etc ), but ttrs engine it's a beast, rs4 can not compete with this not "real" RS

+ magnetic ride + audi sport exhaust
you can find my tests here

p.s. rs4 times from your indipendent source seem to be not correct... 15.4 from 0 to 200 can be reliable time only with tuned intake ports, exhaust, ecu, or... downhill run, 16.7 to 16.9 is a real time for a stock rs4 with clean valves
RE: Re: RE: RS4 or TTRS
tbf, a mapped TTRS, pushing 400bhp will prob be quicker
but it will be not be a real RS....where are the blistered arches?

Re: RE: RS4 or TTRS
Slight omission on the matter of modified TTRS vs std RS4 thenAntoRS4 wrote:forgot to say , ttrs is modded

Perhaps better comparison is to a modified RS4 with a 0-200 Kph (120mph) = 14.3 seconds ?
