Not criticising you Will, just amazed that by changing from 255/35 19 to 275 30 19 costs £25 or 18% less per tyre less. Just wonder how it can be justified by the manufacturers?

I agree, doesn't seem to make sense from the manufacturer's point of view.
For me, I am sticking to the recommended size, not in for mucjing around with this and would prefer stretch to over widening the footprint, if I was changing!

Purely supply and demand. Very few cars run 255/35/19 tyres while a lot more run 275/30/19s - therefore cheaper to produce a lot of 275 sized tyres.

Thanks for this info as i'm just about to change mine on my RS4 avant. However I also own an E46 M3 and put F1 on that this year. Now because they didn't make them in the standard 265 size I went up to 275 and it had buggered up the handerling a treet. feels like I have 2 tonne loaded in the boot, so would recomed staying with standard sizes or your stuck with them for a long time or a mastive cost to change.

Different settings for different cars. Not doubting what you say about your M3, the 275's work well on the RS4. Same goes with tyre manufacturers, Conti's are reputedly excellent tyres but they are rubbish on RS4's compared to F1's and Secret Santas

You didn't state whether you were running same profiles on the m3. 275/30 are almost the same as 255/35 on the rs4 - I for one took advice from the bods on the forum and went with the F1s in 275/30 size and cannot complain. They are miles better than the PZeros I had before.

Just had 275/30's fitted to mine and they feel very secure and solid. The right decision me thinks.

Did you fit the F1s?? You will enjoy them - they are a good tyre.

And they get better as they scrub in.

which took quite a lot longer than other tyres I've used but they were worth the wait.

Changing all 4 tyres doesn't mess with the 4wd system; changing 1, 2 or 3 only
could, but only if the turns per mile were significantly different.
You're missing a good tyre (and much better rim protection) for an unfounded fear.
Dave,
I've just had 275 F1's fitted and initial impressions are good, can you advise what pressures you are running yours at? Audi don't state pressures for this size of tyere as they are obviously non standard.

better prices at :-
www.camskill.co.uk
used them many times.
I need tyres, were looking at the sessantas, but think i'm swayed to go with goodyears.

The only thing with the assymetrics is that they are poor in winter weather because of the pattern, the Sessanta's in the recent snow were excellent partly because of the tread pattern.
