Campaign 17D7

Post by yorkie » Fri Feb 19, 2010 6:53 pm

Took the car in for 1st MOT today and was informed that the above recall was needed which apparently has only been announced recently.

Involves checking oil cooler pipes for possible chafing and they did it while I waited.

Sorry no idea, had the undertray off but couldn't really see what was being done.

Warranty sheet says "Carried out field campaign 17D7 criterion 8E servicing the oil cooler" :!:

Mine's booked in next week. Recall was issued last week I was told. It's to check two pipes on one of the oil coolers which can rub together and burst potentially. They will then fit a spacer with cable ties. Under tray off to check. Expected to be an hour's work.

I have had to have mine replaced last week and the oil cooler as well because the ends were to corroded, it was done at a audi specialist as my warranty ran out, nightmare cost about £800 .

Is it a recall (where all owners will be contacted and the work done at Audi's expense), or a Service Campaign (which will be done when the car is next taken to an Audi dealer for service/warranty work)?

Service campaign I believe but I'm not 100% sure. I will ask this week if you like?

Please, if it's a service campaign then I'll have to go visit a stealer...

Is there anyway to get a list of recalls etc as I don't use an Audi dealer for servicing. Would much rather use the same specialist I have done for years.

No clear answer on recall or service campaign but....
When i contacted my dealer about it today they wanted to book it in straight away.

Got mine booked in today and the dealer service rep clearly stated that this is a service recall rather than a safety recall.

If unsure then give your local stealer a call. Not sure how this works with independants but would presume that they wouldn't be able to charge back to Audi directly as oppose to the dealer service recall being free. Might be wrong on that one though.

Had the same recall done today from my local dealer whilst the car was being checked over.
