Welcome along swanneyboy; that is some trip you are going to have to undertake from Dorset to the Ring to start off with but it will be worth it.

Have a look at this thread regarding accommodation;

Ok, just had an E-mail from Audi today regrading the factory tour on May 31st as follows;

"10.30 Target time for your group to arrive in the Audi Forum at Neckarsulm (you can all park in its own multi-storey car park).

11.00 Start of the tour, which will take in the A8 and R8 Body Production (both have Aluminium Space Frame bodies so the process is very similar), followed by the A8 Final Assembly and the R8 Final Assembly (the R8 Final Assembly is done by quattro GmbH).

13.00 Approximate time for the combined tour to finish.

13.15 Approximate time when I could arrange some form of lunch for you in the Nuvolari Restaurant in the Forum. For a group of 16 to 20 it would be best for this to be a set menu for speed of service, as you will want to get away afterwards to travel on either to Sinsheim or towards Davos. I would expect a light set menu to take about an hour, meaning you could be away if you wished by between 14.15 and 14.45. Sinsheim is about 20 minutes’ drive from Neckarsulm.

This timing also works well because it avoids any shift breaks – you don’t want to arrive and then find the lines stopped for a break!

Could you please let me know:

1 Is this OK with you, and does it fit in with your plans as we have discussed them?

2 If so, what sort of cost per head would you want to pay for the set lunch?

As well as the tour and the Restaurant, the Forum itself is a very impressive building and has an exhibition of historical and current Audi models, an Audi Shop selling Audi accessories and gift items, and a studio showing examples of Audi Individual customisations of vehicles. So there is plenty to see and do just in the Forum.

Now for the good news. Because the guides will be combining into one what would normally be considered two separate tours (R8 and A8), they will charge just 150 Euros for the whole group for the whole tour. You can pay this in cash or by credit card on the day, so you do not need to pay an advance deposit as long as you are definite that the group will be coming."

Does 30 Euros per head seem a decent amount per person for lunch?

If you wany to do 3 days, feel free to, at least you'll get one shot at Stelvio on the Tuesday before driving home. If you could confirm if you are going to be more then +1 in the next couple of days for accommodation for Monday / Tuesday I'd be grateful.

Regarding lunch at Neckarsulm, so as not to be overly exuberant I have asked Audi to provide a sample menu for lunch for us at 20 Euros and 30 Euros per head. If anyone has any objections to this amoutn for lunch at the factory shout please. :wink:
