Audi Warranty Blues...

Saturday of this week the other halfs S3 (2.0 TFSI) decided to go into meltdown, for some reason whilst in 4th at 80 mph it rev'd it's nuts off...
and subsequently stopped !!!
Audi assist recovered the car and then again on Monday to supplying dealer in Birmingham. Due to Fault code on computer being over revs the dealer says any repair i not under warrenty and after long discussions the argurment goes on....

we have spent 70K on Audi through the same dealer over the past 2 years buying an RS4 Avant (Missano) & S3....

Help??? Is it trading standards next??

No even a goodwill gesture from the Stealer or Audi..!!

Could be 2 Audi's up for sale shortly.....very disappointed.... :cry: :cry:

The car has a rev limiter to avoid engine damage so if it over reved it could be for many reasons one being that the car is tuned and the limiter has be lifted. Another is that something has failed and the car got a source of fuel allowing it to rev out.

If the car is tuned you are stuffed if not then it is a problem with the car and should be covered under warrenty.

So they're effectively accusing you of blowing up your own £35k car? Idiots. Are these guys detached from customer service. When they tell us they can't find / hear / see this and that that's wrong with OUR cars that we drive everyday we are expected to believe them - no questions. Yet, when you go in with what actually happened they suggest you're lying.

what did Audi recovery say what the cause of the problem was? I mean its not a Toyota for God sake.

Was the 'Orange Boy wonders' that came to recover me....he didn't have a clue!!

Just arranged for a recovery truck to take me home as the car was too low to put on his trolley and his Tea was probably on the table...

OK explains it then, these are not the silver ones, they norm run with diagnostic machines, the "orange boy wonders don't" from what I was told.

Just back from the Dealer, having waited for a response for a day, decided to visit them.
After waiting for 45 minutes managed to see the Manager, with the workshop foreman. They say the fault codes they have reflect a miss gear change, but I know
different...they are sending the details to Audi today so should hear what they say tomorrow...doesn't look promising. I have no faith in the system anymore especially with
Audi. I feel I have done nothing wrong and am ultimately looking at a bill for 3K or more, not that moneys the point!!

I have now realised that the best way to deal with an audi with suspected engine damage is to run into a brick wall, at least you only have to pay the excess with insurance claims.

Thought cleaning the RS$ would chear me up, but no. :cry:

I had a right old moan at my dealer today.......I kept going and going until I got what I wanted.

I can't believe this story........Audi are usually pretty good.......the same CAN'T be said for their dealer network!!!

Ask them to show you the fault codes... then copy/photograph them and post them here.

Yes I'd like to know how they came to the "missed gear" conclusion from what diagnostics have told them. That's some pretty fancy diagnostics capability if it can tell that.

I'm pretty sure you couldn't tell that from the B5 RS4.

What is actually wrong with your car?

How has this over revving caused damage, and if it has caused damage to the engine, how can they explain that the engine revved past the limiter?

When you say that it died, what were the symptoms,power loss, smoke, juddering, cut-out?
