Doesn't the warranty on a B7 RS4 cost £1655?lengster1 wrote:It wouldnt loose anything,im not sure you could add 1200 to the value of your car either
RS 4 values
lengster1 wrote:I understand your thinking, but given years 5 and 6 will probably be at an increased annual premium and a reduced cover do you think £4k in warranties will be less than what will go wrong with the car? I certainly do especially as the ""all component" b*ll*cks is just that when you read carefully,i would like to wager i could run my car ie tyres brakes etc and cover repairs for less than the £4k over that 3 year period,my view may be slightly tainted by the fact im an aircraft tech by trade and wouldnt pay £120 an hour labour for menial tasks such as brakes oil changes etc. I also have vagcom to keep an eye on the car for myself.Ive not yet seen a post on here for mafs lambda probes autochangers etc etc like the old b5,i think overall they are better in terms of issues but that is only my opinion so far of course
But as the B7s get older, maybe similiar probs like the B5s will emerge.
i agree mate, thats why i wont be handing over £1,600 to audi for itlengster1 wrote:I understand your thinking, but given years 5 and 6 will probably be at an increased annual premium and a reduced cover do you think £4k in warranties will be less than what will go wrong with the car? I did pay £1,732 for my RS 6 but that had DRC, Gearbox, TC, Intercoolers etc etc to go wrong...in fact only a week after renewing, the alternator went, £800 later....
but it seems aside from the DRC, RS4 is a solid car

Halesowen link here, is it me or is the seat bolster well worn? I understand they get worn being so well bolstered but surely they'd do something with it.

I suspect this reduction may be the start of a trend with prices as they've held up well so far.

You are right about the trend, although this car has above average mileage and if one assumes 50% of new value at 3 years, this is holding up reasonably OK. Maybe the strong B5 values are helping the B7?neckarsulm wrote:

I've been contacted recently by Listers Audi group (in the MIdlands) and this is the opposite to Halesowen - they have a Avant like mine, same year (07/07) but 10k+ miles more and they want £38K - go figure that!
I think as scaghead and M-RS4 says, 'demand and quality' still have a very big influenece on this car.

Its not the opposite to Halesowen,Halesowen have have priced that car on mileage and condition, its high mileage and the seat is one of the worst ive seen, these are things you can see in the photos id like to bet the rest of the car hasnt been cared for any better, they arent daft you can clearly see it isnt a nice example,im sure we will see more of this quality come off fleet shortly,as ive said in another thread as cars get older the price spread gets wider as the cars get older and the condition/mileage spread gets wider, just in case anyones interested i have a lower seat bolster thats as new compared to that if they want to buy it
Here is another example of the "all component warranty" failing to produce the goods, trim isnt covered so that seat re trim @£1k wiil be down to the dealer in negotiations or the ne buyers pockets,i know you wouldnt really expect the warranty to cover the leather trim but you wouldnt really expect it to be in that state @3-4 yrs old nor the warranty cost £1600+
Think that's my car, I traded it with them this week, it's a mugello blue avant with 32k on the clock. If it is the same car, it's a spetember 07 car, so it's actually a 57. I think they've got it up at 38.5kCHRISKL wrote:I've been contacted recently by Listers Audi group (in the MIdlands) and this is the opposite to Halesowen - they have a Avant like mine, same year (07/07) but 10k+ miles more and they want £38K - go figure that!

A seat repair using new leather rather than a new seat cover would work OK.
I had this done on a Mk5 GTI, albeit in cloth which has very pointy bolsters and it cost £70, can't see leather being more than double
Do the dynamic bolsters make it harder to strip guys?

Do you mind letting me know who does your trim work, or do you do it in-house? I need a bit done in my Mk2.neckarsulm wrote:A seat repair using new leather rather than a new seat cover would work OK.
