How did the insurance go Kay

Funny as I renewed mine today, I switched from Direct line to More Than, I saved over £600 in doing so.

im 31, 7 years NCD, car tracker and garaged in high risk post code (SE London). quote £609 fully comp 600 excess.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I too swithched from DL to More than last year for £500 wih additional driver and 6 points 300 excess. 40plus! I am about to renew as well and it looks like more than are way ahead from this thread. Just done a quote via tescos price check and its looking around 600 + is the best but some of the major players like "more than" are missing from that.....I shall be giving them a call I think.

I live in the sticks as well but I looked into how this postcode thing works and its laughable!!! You would have thought living in a city centre would cost more....Apparently if an accident or two happen with the dedicated postcode area it makes it higher risk area and bumps the premium hugely. I mean I get it if its "car theft auto city!!" like that poor chap who lives in Liverpool or South London etc But a post code can be over square KM cant it??!! I live in a field basically the most risk I have is a cow sh**ing on the bonnet ! or a Red Kite pecks the paint off my wing mirrow  but as there is a main road some 1/2 a mile away where someone had a prang it has made the postcode area higer risk and subsequently has a higher premium than when I lived in a town centre where car theft was rife!!! Any Insurance boys shed some light or value add on this??

Mev, it is best to go through one of the comparison sites for MoreThan and get a new policy. For the last 3 years my renewal has been £60-100 more expensive than the new quote price and MoreThan are not interested in matching their own quote. One year they even advised me to cancel my current and go with the new.

I'm in a mind however never to use MoreThan again. After buying my policy this year; 60 days later I got a final demand for payment and was advised upon phoning them that if I did not prove they had my money they would cancel my policy! So I had to send my bank statements to show the money had been taken by them to keep my policy! And for all my trouble and expense I got FCUK all apart from a sh**e apology letter saying they had aoprtioned the funds to one of my former policies and not my current.

If they weren't the cheapest I'd be complaining to the FSA.

Do you guys know that these days u can get XS protection, whereby for a small fee u can claim all your XS back if u were in a fault accident. I think its an extra £40 for upto a £500 XS and £50 for upto a £1000 XS. I managed to get the XS protection thrown in for free to cover my £750 XS but A-plan would not go any lower than £1598 for the policy, so i accepted it.

According to a friend in the insurance business, Groupama are one of the best insurance companies out there for performance vehicles.

Just renewed mine now
Age 39 1/2
No points
Wife on policy (35)
9 years protected NCD
£516.46 with Kwik Fit Insurance and you get a voucher for a free MOT
One thing though is that their monthly payments charges are horrendous - 16%
If anyone wants to borrow the money to get their insurance monthly I'll lend it to you at 15% and i'd soon be rich!
Needless to say I paid in one go!
Phantom Black 06 (current), Evo 8 sold, Evo 6 sold, Escort Cosworth sold, Sierra Cosworth (nearly killed me several times) sold, RS Turbo sold
NO I'M NOT FROM ESSEX
