Tire ?

Post by usedcar » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:24 pm

I had a 275/30-19 fitted on one wheel to see fit and clearance issues. Way to close for comfort. The tire is a michelin pilot A/S. Are the wider tires to be that close? Or should I use a thin spacer? Has anyone had rubbing issues with any tire model/manufacture? I read a bunch of posts and from what I read no-one uses spacers. Is this correct?

Thanks

I've had Goodyear Asymmetric 275/30 19 tyres fitted to my Avant with no rubbing problems at all - even when fully laden on holiday.

AFAIK spacers are not necessary. Spacers will make the clearance between the tyre and the wheel arches smaller, so where do you think the clearance is too close?

The front tire looked real close to one of the suspension arms they said and were concerned. It sounds like I need to have the tire shop I use all the time do a mount and see on monday.

Thanks

Running 275s also and no problems with clearence. If anything, reckon the tyres could sit further out (spacers??)
