New RS Owner with a few issues!

Post by RS04EDD » Sun Oct 11, 2009 12:22 pm

Hi,

Very interesting board with some fantastic posts,

Just purcashed an RS4 from coventry Audi with 37,000Miles on the clock. Its had one previous owner and its one of the cleanest examples ive ever seen. Not a single mark on it. Audi had to pry it from his hands. Even had an oil change ever 5000 miles.

Obviously reading this forum theres a number of things ive noted with the car. I take delievery wednesday.

It doesnt seem to be very lively, but then i discovered it was being run on 95 Tesco fuel! So a heavy diet of VPower will be needed.

There was no knocking of anysort and it felt smooth and stable.

There is only one thing i noticed with the Clutch, the clutch its self feels fine but the pedal seems to have some sort of clicking when pressing it too the floor, the dealer stated it just the pedal mechanisim, my question is should the pedal be completly silent without any clicking or very light clunking, it is very minor.

Thanks for any responses in advance and hope to get to know more of you and share any knowledge i might gain from the car.

I dont get any clicking when I press any of the pedals (clutch / brake / accelerator). Does it make the noise when the engine is off and you press the clutch pedal? If so maybe its just something not quite tightened in the pedal mechanism (just an idea)

Does it drive right and are the gear changes smooth? Thats one thing I noticed about the RS4 (compared to the E92 M3), the gearbox was pretty goddamn slick, was so easy and smooth to fire up and down the gears and the clutch wasnt too heavy.

Your car sounds like a good one, get some pictures up. They are absolutely terrific machines, you will love it more and more each day! :D

Hi mate
Just reading your posts its seems to be your vehicle. Its a March 06. Congrats in keeping it in fantastic condition. Espically the detailing work you had done. You can bet it will be kept in just as high standard.

Absolutley delighted with the car, its going in for a full detail next week.

Could you give me the low down on any work you had done too it? Audi have been stuffing rubbish fuel in it.

With regards to the speed detector what is the green LED for below the light switch? is it just a detector or a jammer?

I guess it might be something in the mechanism, il get audi stansted to have a look.

I get the same type of "clicking" on my clutch.

Can feel it / hear it with the engine off. As far as I can remember, my car has done it since new.

I've always assumed it was the switch for the clutch. Lots of things in the RS4 need to know when the clutch is depressed - starter button for one

Mine had the same clicking and you could feel it too. Took it back to Audi as still under warranty and all they did is lubricate it at the pivot point which sorted it - didn't stop them getting bloody spray grease over my carpet though!
