you don't need a bigger tank! You need a closer station!

Where would be the fun in that? More weight to carry around, less performance, less enjoyment!

The Mpg of the RS4 must be a source of frustration for you owners.

My work partner had one from new and never saw 20+mpg (plus alot of oil usage)

My 5 year old RS6 Plus does approx 22-23 on DIS.

So how can a 5 year old C5, with older technology do more than a more modern FSI?

Is it Turbo v's N/A that gives the gains?

i ran an rs6 avant for 12 months, doing the same journey ever day as i do now, which is 80% motorways and never got more than 19mpg out of it. Only Mod was a dms upgrade. The RS4 does 22.3 (done 4k since i bought it, plus average from previous owner)

rs4 from my usage is 20% more economical, like for like ???

Hi Jonathon, Point taken, it all depends how they are driven, I suppose...

Handling aside, how do you find the RS4 compares to the 6.
Does the 4 feel slower, without the turbo slap ?

I regularly get 22-23 mpg in my RS4 with a mixture of commute and good old back road thrash. With a remap, exhaust and filter I reckon that would be nearer 24-25 mpg as I know the RS4 overfuels slightly.

So your RS6 is really no better by the looks of things.

rs6 was all pomp and drama...once mapped at full chat it used to change into 5th at an indicated 170 !!! Have fond memories taking my dad and brother to fort william, fly fishing...the car ate scotland and everything in it, leaving my family members deeply impressed with its all round abilities

800 mile round trip and we nearly managed 20 MPG!

my rs4 a better steer though, i have to say..i miss the room of the rs6, and will rememdy that by getting a v10 at some stage.

first incarnate of rs6 now incredible value provided you can get a good one...

I drove from Somerset to Warwickshire and back yesterday, and I was not wringing it's neck but not hanging about either, basically trying to be smooth (two passengers) and as fast as roads and traffic would allow. I got nearly 23 mpg going up and over 24 coming back. That seems pretty reasonable, and about the same as I used to get from the AMG's I had before.
