If price wasn't an issue, which tyre would you opt for?

From what I understand from the Goodyear dealers, GSD3 has been replaced by the F1 Assymetric, thus those tyres still on the shelves are old stocks?
On the F1 Assymetrics, tried a set of 255 35's, absolutely disliked them as they felt floaty and squishy on uneven corners. I suspect the sidewall might be softer than the Michelin PS2's or I did not give it enough run time. Anyway, went and traded them back in for PS2 after 2 days of trying them out.

Kwik fit did me four F1's at £165 per corner all in about 2 months ago. They had quoted me £170 over the phone, but knocked another £15 off each tyre when I turned up and said I only wanted 2.

im running the goodyears in 255 form and can't fault them at all. I have also had them in 275s.
I have had PS2's on previous cars and never understood why they cost SO much more than other tyres.
I will deffo be getting another set of Goodyears when these wear out

Goodyears feel like that when they are first new. Unless you managed to do 500+ miles in them in your two days there is no way you gave them enough time to bed in. 500 miles is about right for Goodyears to get rid of the surface release agent on them. Then they start to yield grip and continue on strong from there.primus2211 wrote:From what I understand from the Goodyear dealers, GSD3 has been replaced by the F1 Assymetric, thus those tyres still on the shelves are old stocks?

I have had no dramas with mine, even 12 laps on the Ring, and they had been 2k miles bedded in. Tyre pressures I norm run at 38/39psi, on the ring I upped them up to 44psi all round, In hind sight I should have put them up to around 46psi. they as great.

for what sort of tyre? Etyres are quoting a range fromvictor2vt wrote:Look to be paying around £180 per corner INCLUSIVE of everything
Avon ZZ3 at £155.50 all in up to
Micheline PS2s at £289 all in..
I'd trust them to do the job too because as it's a franchise it's the guys whole life to do good work otherwise the business doesn't come back and it's his name on the dotted line..
RE: Re: If price wasn
I've decided to give the Goodyears a go, £500 for all 4. How much should I be looking to pay to have them fit?
Absolutely agree with P_G regards the F1's.
You have to have them on there for ~500 miles before you appreciate how good the tyre is...
I was shocked when moving to the F1 from the P-Zero...until the release agent wore off and I got down to the proper compound.
My Secret Santas (Vredestein Sessantas) are shot after 5000 miles. Not as hard as the F1's so in terms of value for money, not as good as the F1's...IMHO.
For £500 I'd be interested in another set of F1's too!
