3 years old today

Post by P_G » Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:08 pm

Happy Birthday to my RS4 on its third birthday. I have now owned it for a litlle under 2 years and 36000 miles and I still don't want to trade it in for anything else.

It does everything I need practically, scares the pants off most other cars including performance models yet still can take the whole family and gear on holiday or a chest of drawers or fridge freezer to the tip.

And as I write this I have only had one DRC issue which touch wood with the new parts being bone dry will last and more issues with the brakes than DRC, other than that the car is bombproof; no annoying rattles, no squeeks, no dodgy electrics, nothing.

And yet makes me smile everytime I look at it. So here is to another couple of years at least and perhaps breaking the 100,000 mile mark in her, the first and only car I have kept longer than two years.

And for its present, it is getting treated later in the summer to a new set of sports cats and downpipes to unblock the throat a little.

Graeme,
Only someone who has owned this model could start to understand what you say.
I agree with every word you say, i'm keeping mine and cherishing it for the long term, don't want to even think about selling in the near future.
Mine 2 years old in September.
Mint Optic Pack saloon in Daytona Grey (Now sold)
B7 RS4 in Sprint Blue (Gone to a very good new home)
Evo V1 (wish i'd kept)
Numerous M3s

Mine was 3yrs old on the 26th July. Was thinking of changing it a couple of months back, but couldn't think of anything that would be as good as the RS4.

Happy 3rd birthday too, mine was 3 on the 29th July.

Still nothing I would want to change it for, loving it every time I drive it.

I can't think of another car that is such an all rounder, but I do have to say that a few of these newer hot hatches are giving me a run for my money!!

Happy bday! Mine coming up in a week or so.. best get it to Audi before the warranty runs out me thinks!

Talking of cars keeping up, I went with my brother to pick up his brand new VXR8 the other day. 6.2 litre monster. 36k brand new but he got a scrappage deal at 22k

That kept up very well, although he had to start backing off "at speed" as the handling went light... where as I was cruising quite happily... all hail quattro grip! ;)

A run for your money certainly but none that beat it thus far. It will happen though but then I look at what I get in terms of build quality, cabin etc and the others aren't a patch on it.

Oh yes, I only mean putting your foot down on a dual carriageway etc... I'll offer my sister's remapped MkV Golf gti to the mix, that is a quick car...

A few of these fwd hot hatches with 300bhp aren't exactly slow from a rolling start....

Obviously standing start and through the corners is an entirely different thing, just rolling, 2nd gear, straight line....

I still cannot name one car that ticks as many boxes as this one though. So many people comment on it as where I'm from is poserville and all Ferrari's, Porches, Lambos, Astons, OverFinches bla bla bla and still I get comments from people who just know it's a nice car, but aren't sure why. When you tell them and let them know the spec etc. they are all shocked and impressed. Sure a ferrari turns heads when it's floored but most people tut and say poser when they see what it is...
