I think though if I do track the RS I'll probably buy a set of 18's with some tyres that didn't cost £300.00 each on them!
Probably a bloody good idea....at the time spare sets of 19" RS4 rims didn't seem to be that expensive so I got a set, but the rubber you can get for them for the purposes of "tracking" the car is few and far between.

The 275 thing started because of a lack of availability in the 255 size and a desire to try the F1 asymmetric without having to pay Michelin prices.

I think I remember calculating the difference in rolling circumference between a new 255/35 and a new 275/30 was less than the difference between a new 255/35 and a worn 255/35, so why not?

The move was then justified by the "better rim protection" argument although I never really bought that with the tyre combo I had...I've managed not to scrape my rims running either size...

I have moved back to 255's just because Audi moaned about it.

Not withstanding my comments about cosmetics, I do think the car looks slightly more aggressive spaced out.

Absolutely, why not. I really don't understand Audi's objection either. Mind you, it seems to be entirely down to individual dealers as some don't seem bothered, I think PetrolDave said his dealer has never mentioned it.

When I asked my dealer about fitting the 20's they said it sounded fine (I did my clculations on a 265/30 x 20 which also gave a very close to standard rolling circumferance). And when I took it in for the alignment all they said was that it looked great! So it makes even less sense that some of them moan about a slightly fatter tyre on the standard rim. At the end of the day I'm only running the spacers to correct the offset anyway, and they were happy about that.

UNI555 - handling still fine with 20s? Any pics and was there any noticable difference in wheel/tyre weight between 19s and 20s?

Here's a link to the original thread when I fitted them, Now on 10mm spacers all round, not 15mm at the rear as it says in the thread. Handling wise, seems absolutely fine, not noticed any difference. Any difference in wheel/tyre weight would be marginal I think.

Cheers UNI555, remember original post now - very nice. I would have imagined even without the spacers they would have looked the b**locks.
