RS4 Purchase advice

Post by Kingkong » Thu Jun 18, 2009 2:57 pm

I need some advise on Rs4’s, I’ve been sniffing around for one for about 3months now so think I know the market fairly well.. I got close to buying that RS4 (08 plate) at Bramleys, it had 6k miles on it but didn’t have buckets or flat bottom steering wheel plus Bramelys were a bit “vagueâ€

Mileage seems to count on these cars (did when I looked) hence the reason I bought 06 plated one with 26K on it (now has 29K and rising rapidly).
As prices seem to be holding out just now, maybe better to bite the bullet and get a car with a slightly higher mileage and just enjoy it. (it'll be under warranty anyway)

Is 24k considered high on a mid 07 plate?

I'd say no, mine is a May 07 & has covered 41K miles, but it's my daily driver & i prefer to drive it than look at it.

IIRC, 10-12K per annum is seen as average so that would apply to the one you're looking at.

But it is alot on a car like these. Look at the B5's like mine with 60k on (Y reg) and that does keep the price high and make it a more desirable thing. I agree they are not there to be looked BUT keeping miles off them is also part of what I try to do to keep the value high.

Alot of the B5's have over 100k on them but there are plenty on Pheads that are under 60k and for a car of that age that is well under your average mileage.

If in doubt - walk away. You'd only be kicking yourself if something later turned up to but a spanner in the works.

[quote]Any thoughts/opinions welcome.

I definitely think it is worthwhile taking your time. It is very tempting to settle for something that isn't 100% what you wanted just because your ideal car doesn't seem to be about. I looked for around six months and when I was ready to buy I only viewed the one car. It took a while but I found a one-owner 56 plate with just 4500 miles...pure fluke that it was a guy who only had time for weekend use. I just happened to look at the Audi driver magazine vehicles for sale and couldn't believe my luck...I suppose it pays to search all the places you can think of.

Good luck with the search.

If you're prepared to spend £38k, then there is an 07 Daytonna Grey on autotrader with only 13,000 miles. Been on the net for a while now, so you'd get some discount as the market did slightly over correct from christmas prices. Also a couple of others at Audi dealers that are all sub 20K miles at less than £38k......so, what are you waiting for?

I beleive the bramley car was purchased direct from germany and spent a number of months unregistered in this country and was finally registered in 2008. I emailed the owner some time ago before it went up for sale under the bramley umbrella.
