I have just moved on to gen 2 manual 997 c4s. I had got my name down for the RS5 but couldnt refuse the deal I got on a March 09 car with 274 miles on the clock.

Love mine to bits nothing comes close, but i have always had fast VW,S in the past and i am seriosuly thinking about a fully loaded GOLF R20 when it is launched later this year.270 BHP(S3 ENGINE) 4 wheel drive and very tuneable 350bhp plus surely!! Wanting to cut my running costs slightly as things are a little tighter recently..

Mmmmmmmmmmmm....decsions..

Me too, as long as they don't lose the feel of the present one (and don't take too many years about it!).

My thread has arrived.
I'm thinking about changing this year, as I need a bit more room in the back.

My shortlist so far has been:
RS6 Avant
M5 Touring
S4 Avant
Waiting until the next RS4 Avant
A4/A6 3.0TDi or 330d/530d Touring and upgrading the wife's Clio into a Renaultsport 200 for me

However, the most likely scenario is the one so many of you have already mentioned.
Keep the RS4.

:)

Next generation RS4 for me i reckon,BMW need to wake up and build fast 4wd cars before there in the running for me,theyre fast but on british roads and iffy weather most of the time theyre only good 30% of your driving time.

Just ordered a Focus RS in Ultimate Green to blast around in until the new RS4 Avant comes along. Took one out yesterday and was so amazed how good it was I bought one. Handling is fantastic. With a few little goodies, ie intercooler, cat back etc added I think it will be a fun car.

My concern with even the new RS4 is a tweaked TT-RS will out-perform it...

I'm sure there is significant £ in the TT-RS for Audi, but its diluted the RS brand IMHO.

What about the XFR? I still can't get over the "old man" stigma...

With a few tweaks thats a 225mph vehicle that will wipe the smile off a few LP640 owners' faces...

XFR is really M5 / RS6 size though isn't it? The thing for me is that there are few cars that do the same at the same size as the RS4. I may go to the dark side and look at a C63 only because it will fit in the garage and may have more rear leg room. The ultimate for me would be to convince my oher half to have a family car A3 Sportback or Q5 and me to have a R8 but can't see that happening anytime soon.

For me, the B9 RS4 will have to be something special to consider it. It is going to be mightily expensive, I've just about had it with Audi CS and the B8 looks so bland I can't see the RS team developing it to look anything near what the B7 does.

(Length, Width, Height)

XFR: 4961x1877x1460
M5: 4855x1846x1469
C6 RS6 Avant: 4928x1889x1460
B7 RS4: 4589x1816x1415

You're right...that Jag is a BIG car.

Have to say the wife might incline towards a TT-RS (as does my neighbours wife!) but I reckon Audi will have to move to forced induction on their later non TT RS series cars to guarantee further investment on my part...

A Ruf tweaked 996 GT2 or a Gen 2 997 GT3 would do nicely though...
