Real World Performance
I just thought I would share some information with the forum that some of you may find interesting. I was driving home late last night and seen as though the roads were very quiet I thought I would do 0-60mph run using the on board lap timer. To say the findings surprised me would be an understatement!
I have a 2006 RS4 B7 saloon with 15K on the clock, serviced last week. My car is completely unmodified.
Road surface - Smooth, straight and flat.
Weather conditions - Dry with very little wind if any.
Outside Temp ~ 8 C
Oil Temp ~ 90 C
Half a tank of V Power fuel.
Only me on board and I weigh approx 64kg.
I revved the engine to approx 4000rpm, dropped the clutch and started the lap timer. I stopped the lap timer just after hitting 60mph and could not believe my eyes! It was showing a time of................................... Wait for it.....................................

I would be interested to see what you guys think and what times you guys have had? I have had my car for over a year and have done approx 10K very enjoyable miles in that time. In my experience the engine seems to just get better and better and although I have never had the car on a rolling road it does not seem to be down on power at all. I have recently been reading a lot of the threads on valve and inlet deposits/build up which has worried me a little; but surely if the car is producing 0-60/100mph and 1/4 mile times that are quite obviously very impressive surely that is a more appropriate measure of the cars real world performance?! Add to that an increasing improvement in perceived, albeit subjective, performance, then I for one am very happy with my car and am really really enjoying owning it.
Your thoughts would be appreciated?

that is murcielago pace, sounds a little suspect tbh..but you said you timed it so....get yourself down the rolling road day next saturday and see what horses she is giving you.. that is serious 0-60 pace.

Believe you me I was seriously surprised myself! Even taking the variables and possible errors into account my car is consistently sub 4.0 seconds to 60mph. I will unfortunately not be able to make it to the rolling road next week but I will hopefully do a few more runs over the next few days and see what average I come up with.

Iv never tried a 0-60 but should, those timings are very good, I'm taking you did a series of runs so you can see what your best one was, some may be suspicious of the timings here, if so get some one to time you while sitting in the passenger seat, most if not all cell phones have timers, it has been noted that the RS4 on board timer can be a bit slow

60 on the speedo is more like 5.0-54mph in the real and the stopwatch isn't the best measuring device device given the short time frame.
4.2 is the best I've heard of meaured via the onboard computer.
Whatever the time was, you've got to love 4wd!

Best time i've had is 4.4, traction control off with the onboard timer

Using the onboard timer yourself is very inacurate, especially against the speedo which is up to 10% out, and especially as you timed it in 3.4 seconds!

I own a stock b7 and imho has no chance of such times, my b5 is running 560 bhp the acceleration is in a different league to a std b7 and this is unlikely to do 3.4. I suggest you take it to a run what you've Sant pod maybe, i think you'd do well to see 4.5 in reality. The b7 mtm supercharged car is running 535 bhp and just gets under 4 sec's !
