new tryes replaced, do you need Audi to reset tyre monitor?

I'm just curious as i've been told by my local Audi dealer that Once tyres are fitted the tyre monitor system will need to be checked and reset this will cost £60.37 inclusive of vat.

So that made me wondering that like for an example,if i go to kwik fit to have four new tryes replaced, Do i go to Audi Dealer to have it tyre monitor system rechecked after having four new tryes fitted?

Or i can do it myself via dashboard (DIS) to select wheel change to rescan the tyre pressures?

DIY via DIS, your dealer is having a laugh as I have never heard this before and have changed my tyres independently. The TPMS will do a recheck if you ask it to via DIS as you are probably aware. The on;ly thing they may be trying to suggest is that your tyre fitter will damage the minotors in the valves but TBH, if it does break the system will register it as flat / no signal so you would know.

Please dont do this they will kill your alloys!! they destroyed all 4 alloys on my RS6 and I had to take them to court to resolve it!! I know you shouldn't tar all oulets with the same brush, but i wouldn't even take the risk mate!

They are incompetent and liars - don't EVER take your car to them. This is something ANY owner can do on the DIS, there is no need to go anywhere near a dealer.

All you need to do is select the menu on the DIS, select tyres and click on the box.

Just to clarify, once you replace/repair a tyre or all four you then pump up to your preferred pressure then you re set the DIS after which if your tyres lose pressure the warning light will come on.
But for your Audi dealer to CHARGE YOU to re set is a con, agree with earlier post this was probably the cost of a new tyre pressure monitor which could be broken by some tyre fitter who is not aware of this potential problem.
After i had new tyres fitted my local dealer showed me what to do in less than 5 minutes, no charge.
Tell the forum members where you live and i'm sure you will get some good advice on where to get tyres repaired/replaced at a reputable local tyre fitter

"I've just filled up with petrol and my Audi dealer says I need to take the car to them to reset the trip computer ..."!

For the dealer to tell you that is appalling. Please name and shame!
