RS4 Avant Big Money

Post by Jezzer » Tue Mar 10, 2009 7:13 pm

It looks like the dealers know they can get big money for RS4 Avants now, it seems they are moving past £35k towards £40k and some for even more. Below is a current list of avants on Pistonheads that are up for good money

I have been looking to buy one - that's my self interest disclosed :)

I have noticed that prices asked have edged up. However, only those closer to 30k have moved. Further,as some of these cars come to the end of manufacturer's warranty, I wonder if prices will settle down again to more realistic levels. At £40k, a nearly new M3/C63 AMG are strong alternatives.

An estate has never been offered for the M3.

Therefore when I needed a sporting estate, I bought an RS2 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience for over 10 years.

Now although I don't need an estate, for me the Avant shape is more appealing than the saloon in the RS4.

The M3 estate or touring as it likes to be known, is apparently, only being made in LHD, which is a shame, because it would be a stoniking bit of kit

AFAIK, not even LHD M3 Tourings have ever been made. M5 Tourings were available previously in LHD, but now also in RHD with the current Bangled shape. But too big for my needs.

As you say, an M3 Touring would be a good bit of kit.

Which is what makes it all the more stupid that BMW UK aren't pushing to get it in RHD. The UK is the largest market (in percentage terms and maybe even in volume) for Avants in Europe, so it's not like the markets is too small for them to bother...

Maybe they'll see the light soon and do it...... Biggest problem with the M cars for me is you get in them and the interior just doesn't feel that special!! at least when i get in an RS4 it makes you feel like you just got into something a bit more serious than a 2.0d A4 IMO

This is my favourite. I wouldnt pay 42.5 for it though. Id pay 38k max. The photo worries me a bit though. Either the owner lives near to were Bramley cars photograph their cars or it was owned by them previously making it a 2+ owner car or it is a bramley car (not on their site though). Love the daytonna and optics though, im not that bothered about it not having a flat bottomed wheel either as the flat bottomed wheels bring nothing to the driving experience other than looks.

My old car had recarros which I specifically wanted but the buckets vs recarros has been done to death. At the end of the day the only time a flat bottomed wheel has an advantage is in a race car that does not require the wheel to be turned more than 90 degrees left or right for a majority of the time. A wheel should be round but cant argue that the round one looks horrid.
I am tempted by it though, its going to be tough hanging on for the RS5 as I keep getting tempted by cars like these and 997s.
