New Tyres - Sumitomo HTR ZIII

Post by Gecko » Wed Dec 17, 2008 8:04 am

I decided to fit Sumitomo HTR ZIII in 275/30-19 (96Y) to replace the P-Zero. Stock rims, no spacers. Fits perfectly and no rubbing.

I'm overall VERY happy with the tyre. Quiet, smooth and more overall grip than the P-Zero. There does seem to be a 'slight' squidgy feel on change of direction as the tyres move around on the sidewalls... but it is 'slight' or more likely I'm imagining it.

Steering is light and seems to have a better directional feel to it... but this might come from the wheel alignment.

Haven't run in the wet yet but I expect at least as good as the original tyres.

Currently running 38psi front and 35psi rear (which gives a nice flat cross section for even tyre wear) but will be trying higher pressures over the coming weeks to see how this effects the change of direction feeling.

And the biggest reason for buying them...
P-Zero, PS2, G F1 Asy are all $880ea locally.
HTR's were $380ea. That's a saving of $500/corner.

All in all... I'd recommend them to anyone.
