Brake Discs & Pads

Post by markweems » Mon Dec 08, 2008 1:18 pm

My car is currently with Audi, 40k miles on the clock. Apparently the car needs new front discs and pads and expected cost is c.£1,000?!?!?!?

Is that correct, seems to be extortionate to me?!?!?

Any help appreciated.

Is it correct it needs new pads and discs? Probably.

Should it be £1,000? No. £650 all in from APS - they told me I needed mine done when I was in their recently. I suggest you are being shafted - try an independant like APS.

£650 all in from APS, that is cheap. Disks are usually circa £500and pads £150 so to get both and fitted is reasonable indeed.

I was quoted just over £1000 by Audi for new front discs and pads. When I looked in to it this seemed to be about the going rate.

You can save money by sourcing the parts and fitting yourself but I certainly don't trust my own mechanical ability enough to do the job myself.

Believe me they are a doddle to fit.
