Rev limiter

Post by yorkie » Fri Oct 10, 2008 6:26 pm

Not having had my RS very long so still not always getting the gear changes in at the right revs which has meant I have hit the limiter a few times.

Never worried about this with any other car but having read in the handbook that you shouldn't hit the red line as it may cause engine damage does anyone know if this is possible from just briefly hitting the limiter now and then?

Cheers

I think every RS4 out there has hit the rev limiter more than a few times!

As already said the limiter is set at a value that makes sure NO damage is caused. Some chip firms raise the limit to 8400rpm, and I haven't seen any posts from people with chipped RS4's complaining about needing a new engine...
