Oil Consumption

Post by TEE » Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:08 am

I have now owned the car for 6000 km. it had been serviced before I got it. Since then I had to refill the oil 2x. Is that normal for this car. Compared to my GT3 it is a lot...

Assuming you are putting in 1 litre at a time? Seems abnout right though i still find it strange/alarming it is considered normal.

Sounds about right, I use a litre very 2000 miles approx. Tolerance in the UK handbook is a ltre every 600 miles before foresen as a 'problem'

Like P_G, 1litre/2000 miles for me....up until now.

I checked again recently having done 2000 miles expecting to have to throw a litre in, and the level hasn't moved a bit.

I just don't get it....

My usage paradigm hasn't changed an iota.

I'm guessing here, but high consumption comes along if you rev the engine to high rpms (i.e. past 5500 rpms)? Or does this happen even with normal driving?

There are a combination of factors including also how you drive your car during warm up phase, i.e. when the car is limited to 7000rpm plus how often you use maximum rev range.

However all said it is still pot luck.
