Service Issues - Beware Bexley Audi

Having read this post (and the Daily Mail web page) it's quite shocking behaviour from a main dealer - someone who you think would be above this sort of behaviour. I think owners of any performance cars have that nagging suspicion that their cars are going to be road tested with enthusiasm as part of the service. I live near Coventry and there was a story back in the early nineties about a chap who took his Audi in and elected to wait while his car was serviced. He was left waiting for over 5 hours before they plucked up the courage to tell him that the technician had written his car off.
Please keep us posted - your experience could happen with any dealer brand servicing performance cars!

Read this the other day - to echo others, glad he's taking it further and not just shrugging it off...Contigo wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... rvice.html
Where can I get one of these Audi R54's??????Daily Telegraph wrote:Mr Reece, 37, left his Audi R54 with the garage for 11 days while he went abroad on business.

On a serious note, hope you get some compensation in some way or another for this...

Nothing from Audi UK or the dealers relating to the recent press coverage, however lots of media follow up - including offers for LONDON TONIGHT and GMTV. And lots of calls/emails/texts from people I know.
I did meet the franchise director for SGSmith and an Audi UK representative last week. They were more interested in using the logs to discipline the technician than dealing with the issues of my car. They also stated (after glancing briefly at the logs) that they didnt consider my car would have suffered any engine damage based on the logs (although they wouldnt provide this in writing). They also couldnt explain why the service sheet showed 4 miles when my log showed 16.1 miles. Despite being audited by Audi UK, and being given the all-clear for complying with their standard processes, neither could advise why I had to take the car to a different audi dealer for the service to be complete properly, or why the experience at the other audi dealer was entirely different (and more positive) than the experience at Bexley. They also declared the bodywork damage "not of the sort caused at a dealership" but have offered to contribute towards the cost of the repair, once I forward the costs to them. (They did offer to repair the damage, which I declined).
I was offered the opportunity to ring Bob Dix (Franchise Director) next time the car needed any work so that he could personally ensure the experience was a positive one. Unfortunately, I think hes missed the whole point of the complaint - namely to be able to drop my car of and have it serviced professionally by the dealer as their day to day normal practice.

My car is in for its first service at Bolton Audi early next week. Makes you wonder how many times this must have happen in the past. Shall be taking some pics of the dash before I part company. I'm sure this happens with other premium marques, as I saw an M3 pull out of my local BMW dealer at mac 3, you've guessed it driven by a technician. If it had been my old M3 I'd have been a tad annoyed.

It happens at most garages.
Took a customers RS4 to a local dealer for a key recode. Left the car at the dealer stopped for a cup of tea and a bacon roll in a lay-by to kill some time. Having a chat over a cup of tea to hear and then see my customers RS4 containing three dealer staff flying past at speed.

Must admit I'd be pretty wary though about leaving my car at a dealer any longer than the required time e.g 2 or 3 hours, and sometimes would be prepared to wait so I can see if the car leaves site. 11 days is just too much tempation for the wrong people to take it out and give it a good ragging.

I think the further you go with this, the more you'll be compensated by Audi - they will not want the bad press, especially as you have hard proof.reevesroadster wrote:Nothing from Audi UK or the dealers relating to the recent press coverage, however lots of media follow up - including offers for LONDON TONIGHT and GMTV.
I, for one, think you need to get exactly what you want from this.

My RS6 recorded a peak speed of 157mph when having some suspension work done at an independant specialist. I spoke at length to the owner and needless to say I was mad, but unlike the OP it doesn't log GPS points or speed otherwise I would have taken it further too.
I guess I learned the hard way. Take your car there, record the mileage and wait with it if at all possible. Hindsight's wonderful, isn't it?
I would have to agree with Philip having had similar experiences with Guildford Audi. When a driver brings your car back and you can tell it's been thrashed...philipwalker wrote:It happens at most garages.
