The car is a 56 plate so it is a 2006 I guess - maybe I should upgrade.

Just thought it was wierd how it worked in France...

TMC in France (and most other countries in Europe) is a free service, but TMC in the UK (and a few other countries like Finland) is a subscription service (fee paid by the car importer) so Audi had to do a SW upgrade after they had reached the deal with TrafficMaster to include the codes to decrypt the TMC messages.

That's why TMC worked in France, but not in the UK.

If you don't want to pay dealer price, the best place to look for a newer map DVD is on eBay - but make sure you get DVD1 (Western Europe) - from 2007 the maps are actually a 2 DVD set for Western & Eastern Europe.
The 2008 DVD set is part number 8P0 080 884 AA (or 8P0 919 884 AA it's the same thing).
