Milltek rear box replacement

Post by Love_iTT » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:00 pm

I went to the TT Owners Club national meet at Rockingham on the weekend and there was a Milltek rep there and so I asked him to have a look at the tips of my system as they were corroding and getting quite pitted. No matter how much I cleaned them up they would gradually start showing signs of corroding again.

Anyway, he came over and without any pushing he agreed that they were of not to the standard he would accept and he would sort it out Monday. Yeah right I thought. Low and behold, at about 11.30 I had an email from him stating that to send him a copy of the invoice, I had this with me (we discussed this on the Sunday) and emailed him back with the invoiced attached.

By 1.30 I had a confirmation email that two valved back boxes will be sent out to me tomorrow. I will fit them and drop off my existing boxes to a company just up the road to me and he will pick them up from there when he's next passing through.

Unbelievable and exeptional service. OK, the boxes shouldn't have gone like that in the first place but it's nice to know that there are companies still around that will put their hands up when the situation arrises and rectify the problem without any fuss.

My hat is well and truely off to Milltek.

Fair play - sounds like excellent service

Thankfully you didn't post a picture of your car, otherwise you could have upset someone!

I know, I was going to post a couple of before and then after shots and also some from the TT meet I went to but I thought "No", it's just not fair on the new 'dudes' who have only posted about 11 times on this forum.

Graham,

Can you PM me a contact at Milltek, as mine are looking poor & i'll be looking to follow the same route.

Got mine supplied & fitted by Awesome GTI, so may have to go via the retailer, but would like to check with Milltek first.

Graham - just had the call to say mine will be done end of the week, I was told that the Milltek 'badge' was going to be engraved now on the new tips, is that correct?

I bought my system 2nd hand so don't have the receipt - i'm guessing its unlikely they will act due to this but can you send me a contact as well Graham? it's worth a shot!

Thanks

I've not posted before now because I wasn't sure how this was going to pan out to be honest. After my initial extremely good response from the Milltek rep I just wanted to hold fire and wait and see if the back boxes did actually turn up - I'm pleased to say that a very large box turned up at work today (Thursday) with two rear valved boxes plus new clamps and bolts as promised.

So, from Sunday to Thursday is not a bad service in my books! I will fit these at the weekend, I could have got these fitted but to be honest it's not a big deal being the rear boxes only, if it had been the complete system then I would have had them fitted by someone.

Anyway, for those who want the contact details, they are:

Tel: +44 (0)1332 227280
Fax: +44 (0)1332 227289

Charlie@falcon-automotive.co.uk

Charlie is the rep I spoke to but I'm not sure if he is just the area manager for my area or not but I suppose a quick email or phone call will do the trick.

All in all, a tremendous effort from Milltek and the kind of service that would have me going back to them again.

I spoke to Milltek this afternoon & as i expected i need to go via Awesome GTi as they supplied & fitted my system. I'm booked in 1st thing Tues morning for them to take some piccies to send down to Milltek for advice. As an aside, the passenger side pipe detached from the valve system yesterday, so although i've done my best to re-attach by hand, it's not fully on so i expect it to detach again soon. Typical that it's the pax one, as that's a total bitch to get hands on, where as the drivers side faces forwards & would be a doddle.

Also noticed on the Milltek website that the dark exits are now available, so if they do replace & given my RS4 has the Optics Pack, i may well go for those instead as i reckon they must wear better than the chrome.

Snap, took mine in to Awesome GTi yesterday & they took some piccies to send to Milltek, later in the day a call to confirm that Milltek will replace the back boxes under warranty & given my car has the Optics Pack & ideally if the black tipped system had been available when 1st purchased i'd have opted for them, they will swap over for black tips at no cost (i believe the black tips are a tad more expensive normally).

Outstanding customer service by both Awesome & Milltek.

I agree Paul, excellent customer service, but .... quality is important, which is why I looked at the GMG system ... if it was no for personal reasons, I would have one today.

Glad to see you have been sorted out, what have you done with your original back boxes, sent them back to Milltek?

They are sitting in my garage at the moment but I shall be giving them to The TT Shop on Saturday so that the rep can pick them up from there when he is next passing.

I was offered the black tips but kindly said no as not only do I not have the optics but I just don't fancy the idea of a coating of any colour on the exhaust tips purely because to me that is something else that might go wrong later on - it probably won't but I just didn't fancy the idea - each to their own though.
