Blow out at 100 mph with you and your family in, one or all of you dead or at best 50k car written off for the sake of £250 ??????

Come on, you'd be driving it worried all the time, fit a new one, no argument, you'd never forgive yourself.

That may be a little excessive Victor unless driving at that speed in Europe of course. However a fron or rear blow out at that speed is managable in dry conditions from experience and that was an 1996 Astra I was driving, I think you may stand better chance in an RS4!

You saying you never do 100 mph here in the UK, P G ?

How can you tell what the weather conditions are going to be like if you had a front blow out ?

I still think audi would have said no if they were not comfortable with plugging my tyre which was on the front. You could get a blow out anyway with a faulty tyre. If you are driving over 100mph i would be more concerned with the fuzz.

You misunderstand me I think. I don't do 100mph on the UK roads and don't advocate people advertise the fact that they do

As to the blow out, you can't legislate what the weather is like, however I have suffered a front blow out at a large speed in dry conditions and managed to bring the car to a halt without drama. I couldn't say I could do the same in damp or greasy conditions as I haven't had the misfortune of a blow out in those conditions.

Ok follow on question. Got my Geo sorted (the problem that caused the one worn tyre) so where do I go now to get a new one. i.e. where seems to offer best service and price for new tyres?

Try Micheldever Tyres - they have always quoted me a good price and given me good service.
