Audi phone prep. question
Audi phone prep. question
Is/was it possible for an RS4 to leave the factory with the Bluetooth prep. Installed?
I’m assuming if you had either the cradle of central install it was all connected by hard wire?
Cheers

Cheers ARSEY4, I would like to go to said former member but logistics are a bit of a problem at the mo.ARSEY4 wrote:That wasnt as far as I am aware a uk factory option but I know that a retro fit can be done by someone who used to post on here.
In the meantime I know of a fully loaded 08 car that is being broken after being put on its roof (anyone here?!) - I just wondered if it would contain all the bits I needed to DIY?
Im not quite sure what you guys mean by the BT device but I know for sure that in the uk we had the factory options I described above and and as far as i know that was it. With the cradle on the dash set up you can get a retro unfit to take it away and if you didnt have any phone prep there is a guy called craig who a few used to get full phone prep. I also asked at one point if he could retro fit the armrest set up whilst retaining flat bottom wheel which he could do as well.
Ontop of all this with any phone prep you can ditch using any cradle and conncect via bluetooth with most phones so you can have your phone in your pocket etc.
Hope that helps.

my car had the phone prep with the cradle. but I got the dealer to remove the cradle when I bought the car.
BT works fine without it in my experience - pairs our phones every time. Only drawback with not having the cradle is that you lose the voice activation.
Of course, if you're in an area of poor reception not using the car's aerial may cause problems, but I've never found this to be an issue.

Just get in the car and the BT will let you know that it has found your phone and your set, the only prob I have found with not putting the phone into the cradle is that you can run out of battery on a busy phone day, but that's it,SJ-RS4 wrote:Hold on a minute, So the OEM BT does not locate a device? i..e so you can have your mobile in your pocket and the OEM BT picks it up and handshakes with the device?
@ ARSEY 4, I have a Euro spec car so it might be a little different to the UK spec, not sure on that, if it turns out that you need a Euro spec part I can try to find the part numbers.

I use my phone exactly as MikeD says and just have a phone charger working off the cigarette lighter which I plug in as and when the phone juice levels get low....
Loading the new version 13 firmware onto my N95 has sorted the loud "buzzing" noise that I used to get when the phone initially connected for a call.
That said, you need the new "Q" BT module to get the extended functionality with this particular phone so that'll be a retro-fit in due course....as discussed in the "Southern Bluetooth Fitter" thread.

Poor voice quality
I have the factory fit phone prep with cradle on the dash. Almost every time I make or receive a call the i get complaints that I can't be heard. Anyone else experience problems like this?
Re: Poor voice quality
My RS4's BT is probably the best of any car we've had - I rarely have problems with not being heard, even at speed. Of course, some phones work better than others, but generally it's pretty good.Shacky wrote:I have the factory fit phone prep with cradle on the dash. Perhaps you should get your mike checked out.
