Stock exhaust dimensions

Post by rs4-sson » Sat Apr 12, 2008 1:30 pm

Hi all

Just a quickie - anyone know the dimensions for the stock exhaust mid-section? I've just bought the Milltek mid-sections (attachment) and would like to confirm that they will fit with the stock front and rear sections that I am leaving on.

I'm doing this since a previous post by someone mentioned that this worked as a decent way to get the decibels up a bit.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

I think you will have fun fitting it, as I suspect the OEM exhaust has different lengths to the couplings, let alone possible diameter changes ...

I suspect you are right and was wondering if anyone could be definitive about things like couplings and diameter. Milltek is 2.5" but I can't find any info on the stock part's diameter.

Despite a search on here, I can't find the thread where there was someone who did exactly this and I seem to remember it working for them and they didn't mention a lot of hassle to fit it.

I think you are missing an extra bit

You need the extra small bit that goes to the cats ...

Note the shape and length of the ECS one

Based on ETKA, the CLAMPS used on the stock pipes are 60 mm which probably means the pipes itself are more or less 60 mm. From Milltek, theirs are 63.50 mm.

Might be easier if you can buy the 63.50 <-> 60.00 mm converters from Milltek or any other exhaust outlets.

The ECS is about $200 to ship to Europe, so a TUBI 'H' part may be an option ... I just waiting on if they will supply this on it's own ....

I would get rid of what you bought or send it back ..
